While looking for things for the little Kia I come across many other parts that are either not available at the dealer for many countries or are non-factory parts (performance, bodykits etc).
Ive came across these 2 sites so far that have many parts that we dont get anywhere else like lowering springs, rear spoilers, weather visors, alternate LED signals and more.
Lot of badges, 2 different rear spoilers for the hatch, a few different sets of window visors, lowering springs, door pillar inserts, scuff plates, LED interior lighting, LED indicator upgrade, dash insert kits etc.
Lowering springs, LED rear bumper reflectors, vinyl strip (bonnet and rear bumper), carbon wheel dress up inserts (17 inch only), carbon pillar covers, carbon window panel stickers, LED badge, sun visors, LED relfector modules DIY kits (for both hatch and sedan; headlight dress up converts to indicators)
Not as many parts as the first one but has parts for both hatch and sedan owners.
You'd get a better deal for some of the parts at ExLEDShop , like for example the LED Kits.
The main site is ExLEDMall which you'd see is all in Korean.
Can also try eBay, depending on what you want. Mods/Customizing is something I plan on doing about a week or two after I receive the vehicle I choose so I have everything Planned, priced, wishlist and waiting for me to hit the "Select To Pay All" option.
If you're handsie you might have to Modify something yourself. Like if you see something for the Optima or Forte that isn't for the Rio but you're sure would fix after a quick fix
Interesting. I thought the same thing myself at first. But on the site itself, there's another chart that suggests (if I'm interpreting Korean correctly) that there's only a slight increase in HP (+3.3) and torque (+6.9Nm). Which seems reasonable given it's only a muffler swap and the Cat stays put.
When I looked at the graph again afterwards, I realized that the upper two lines are Torque and the bottom two are HP. The green line showing the original spec and the red line showing the improvement after the swap. They are so close together I thought it was one line. lol.
Ahhh... so really - there's very little difference in power delivery. Damn Maybe Oz was just being sarcastic after all.
So this is just an axle back, maybe a full cat back system would provide better numbers? Or at least make it 'seem' better? It was my understanding that the down pipe is where the most gain would come from.
Its just the muffler, the gains are reasonable. When they bring out their full system the numbers will go up. Mufflers usually add only a couple kw at most, hooked up with a new mid section and you can throw a few more on. Headers and you can add up to around 9-12kw more (full exhaust system).
Its early days for performance. Once more tuners out there pick up on the Rio having the same engine as the Veloster they will be more willing to make parts; interchangeability and more market potential for them.
Plus with Hyundai and Kia rising in the tuner circles there will be tuners out there willing to invest in them.
Also looking into how much compatibility there is between Veloster and Kia exhausts. So far from what I have seen the mid sections are the same just the rear mufflers are different and the exits (mid mount compared to right mount).
Going over the numbers from Jun BL, it looks like it was taken at the wheels and not crank. They are also using Nm (metric scale) for torque and hp for power. Mix of old and metric.
All in Metric, the Jun BL put out 96kw with 164nm torque. Kia have the Rio as 103kw/167Nm.
All need to find out is if the Jun BL is via crank or wheels and same for the Kia.
Done some more checking up and all need now is a stock run on a dyno or find stock dyno results.
If Jun BL did it at the wheels, we would have to have one of the lowest drive train loss on the market (only 9kw) or Kia have de-valued how much power the Kia has. Common to do these days, Audi and Renault are good at it.
Ok got some more info on the Jun BL exhausts. Dyno results were taken from the wheels. Our little Kia has one of the lowest drive train losses on the market, that may not mean much of anything to most but what it does mean is both Kia and Hyundai have got chassis/engine/gearbox mating perfect.
For perspective, my other car is a Lancer and stock claim at the crank is 113kw, ATW they come in mid to high 80's depending on transmission (auto has less than manual). That is roughly 25-30kw drivetrain loss in a FWD car. Its worse for the RA and Evo; both have massive drive train losses. The RA its not as bad as the FWD and Evo Lancers (due to running with a modified Outlander AWD chassis).
More exhaust options for us also include the new i30 and Accent. For us to use a Veloster exhaust we need to modify our lower rear bar attachment.
Jun BL's exhausts for the Rio/i30/Accent/Veloster are all in 2" piping. Some come with the valve control systems and others are single cat set ups. The new i30 set up also has a dual exit option (dual tips both left and right).
Will check tomorrow to see if the Rio has the second hanger for a dual exhaust.
Interesting link. Although lime green on black is bit much for me - the effect sure is striking. And some of the parts they have look pretty well done.
i would paint my Rio that colour in a second, looks fantastic - i used to have another car in lime green called "Toxic" - most people hated it and looked at it in disgust, and that's why i liked it
Sequence out in Korea will be putting out some stuff for the Rio by years end. Luxon are looking at expanding their range with the Rio and Max Tuning again out in Korea might be able to do some things with the Rio. They are already doing things with the Veloster.
I will be doing some interchange parts between Veloster/Rio over the next month too to give us some more options
