Question From A Newbie...

Hey all,

I am new to the forum here...just stumbled across it today when I was looking for some information for my Kia. I have an 06 Rio5 Sport. So anyway, hi to everyone - you guys/girls seem pretty knowledgeable - now comes the questions!

1. I want to change the dash light colour on my Kia. I simply love the colour blue and want to make them that blue neon type colour. How hard of a process is this (I have heard mixed results) AND does anyone know what type of bulb that is used?

Has anyone done it?

2. The big downfall of the Kia is the lack of cruise control. I have been looking at an aftermarket cruise control but was trying to find other models (as I have only found one) to compare it with. Does anyone know where I could find some more after market cruise control systems for the 06 Rio?

Hmmmm.......I would also like to know about cruise control and maybe changing the dash colours. Anybody know wut to do??

To change the color of you cars lights you have to purchase leds and solder them in. If you do not know what you are doing or what resistance leds you need then things can get seriously screwed up. It can be done and there are plenty of step by step processes out there on the internet on how to do it (maybe not for the 06 rio but every car will follow same principles). It does look pretty good when done correctly. The only thing that does not always come out right is the speedo. The lights that are in there disperse light very efficiently where as some LED's do will create "hot spots" which is simply places where the light is much brighter than others. The temp controls and such do not create these problems as you are only lighting up a small portion. good luck! Oh, and this would most definitely void your warranty if you have future electrical problems.... something to think about

It amazes me that Kia has cruise control on most of their other models but not on the Rio. You may want to speak with your dealer who might know a third party accessories installer who can do cruise for your car. Otherwise, check out the yellow phone pages for the same sort of installer.

just because they decide to put the heated seat as accessories in north america. Maybe next year they will present no heated seat but cruise control?

Can you imagine the poor mileage if all available options where put in a little 1.6L?

But personally, here in Montreal, i prefer the heated seat, first cause of our icy winter and secondly cause i don't need cruise control, i do not enough highway to use it.

Our dealer is fitting cruise controls, they want close to $600 for it! But it's there and it does work, I might go for it later this year if I can find a cheaper source that can guarantee it.
