Got a letter from Kia Motors America...I won't type out the whole thing verbatim...but this us the jist of it...

Kia Motors America is conducting a voluntary service campaign regarding the replacement of the radiator cap assembly on certain 2006 Rio models.

Kia has become aware that certain radiator caps installed on certain 2006 Rio models may not release at the proper pressure, resulting in a coolant leak at the upper or lower hoses.

FYI for fellow Rio owners...BTW...does voluntary service campaign=recall?

Now that's interesting! I just noticed last week that my coolant level has dropped from between the two lines to just below the "Low" line in only 2900ks.

I wonder if my car has that problem? I'll phone the dealer tomorrow...

Mrobe1, I imagine "service campaign" would mean "fix the problem on the next service" (Recall = Urgent).

Thanks for bringing this to everyones attention.

Rick

Thanks for the heads-up...last I was under the hood the coolant looked OK. If it needs it the dealer will take are of it at the next serivce...I'll be coming up to another oil change soon (been racking up miles like they're going out of style lately...)

I'm at around 5300 miles now, car had 6 on it when I pointed it out to be written up in March. The little car's getting a workout! It likes to be driven though...I fire her up and she's rarin' to go! I need to give her a bath again...

Pffft!
Tell me about it. I racked up 6,100 on mine so far. I bought it in early January. I gotta start putting the garbage miles on the Voyager.

Damn...I just checked mine. No sticker, no yellow dot, and the coolant (from a cold start) is on L.

OK...I got mine done today...took all of 15 minutes of my time.
One question for those wiser than I...at this link:
http://www.kiatechinfo.com/TechInfo/Campai...asp?docu_no=237
there are "symptom" codes of:
EN5000 - poor engine power/acceleration
EN6000 - excessive fuel consumption
associated with this fix.
Can a faulty radiator cap really cause a loss of engine power and excessive fuel consumption? It seems a little far fetched to me.
