Anybody was able to find a suitable roof rack for Rio 5 HB? Yakima, Thule and Sport Rack do not list Kia Rio 2006 as of now.

I tried finding some universal roof racks, but nothing that great. I have, however, had good luck with the rear decklid/hatch/trunk strapie-doodjey bike carriers. Thule Rack
I used a similar, cheaper one on a Van, Bug, and a Civic notch back. The only problem I have with it, is that it offers no security when I leave my bikes locked to it. Anyone could just cut the straps and take off with two bikes, on a nifty little rack to ease thier thievery. While hooked up to my camper van, I would run a cable through the bike frames, and down to a tow hook under the bumper. I'll have to try the rack on my Rio5 when I get off in the morning. I'll let you know how it works.

I need a roof rack to add more cargo space for summer and some household trips. The main problem to mount a universal rack seems to be the wide and angular shape of space between the end of the back passenger doors and the roof. I have seen some roof racks for Honda Civic that have clamps only on the front mounts and the back mounts just sit on the rain gutter without any screws. This is what Thule will probably offer when time comes. Thule also offers universal roof racks that require drilling. My dealer told me the drilling if done properly should not void the warranty, but I still don't want to drill the roof.

Has anyone found a roof rack for this car yet that doesn't require drilling?

For Canada you could check www.sportrack.com. So far they only list 2005 models and earlier, and I hope 2006 models will show before summer is over.

Go to www.thule.com and www.yakima.com and go through the rack finder. Neither one has a fit yet but send them a message and make the demand for it higher. Yakima said they will update their site either no fit or in progress. I got a generic email from thule saying they will email me when a fit is available. If I here anything I will update this site.
