Hey all I'm new here and I hope that you all can help. I have a 2006 Rio LX I am saidly the victim of a hit-and-run. I will try to post pictures in the morning but for now I will try to discribe it. My trunk has a straight up and down dent, and the black molding is cracked badly. What should I do? Should I wait on the body kits to come out and just put one on my car or should I find a body shop to fix it? I want to get it FIXED ASAP. I really need ALL the opinions I can get. This is my first new car and I have no idea how to go about finding parts or anything. Should I just go back to the dealer or will that cost way too much? PLEASE help me!!! Oh and I stay in the Midwest if that helps, and my car is Midnight black.

Thanks all

Depending on how much of a deductable you have...check out and see how much your insurance will pay. It looks like from kiausaparts.com, the rear bumper and the molding will run about $225 (not counting all the brackets...you might be able to use the old ones). The trunk assembly looks like it runs about $319. Of course...then you have to get it all painted to. Its still under $750 (with paint) If you have a $500 deductable I'd go this route...get the dealer parts and get an estimate from a body shop to paint them. Install them your self...IMHO.

Sorry that this happened to you.

Um first thing is report it to the police.. Then deal with your insurance company especially if it was a hit and run.. The police will have to file a report stating you were involved in a hit and run. But you never stayed at the scene of the accident so that maybe hard to prove now.. It's basically no ones word against yours now.. Good luck
