I just finished my first Mod on my '06 Rio5. It's a simple one, but I find that allot of people just don't think to do it. My Radar Detector is mounted to my windshiled, just above the rear view mirror. The wire is only exposed for two inches, then it goes into the headliner. From there it drops down inside the passanger A-pilar, to the back of the dash. From here, I usualy find an ignition-switched power supply, and hook it up directly, but I desided to go less invasive. I purchased a lighter extension cable w/ switch. The plug has an LED indicating switch on the head, and the wire comes out the side. I have it pluged into the lighter outlet because I don't need a lighter. About two inches of the wire are exposed here. This wire, then goes into the dash. I had to run the wire through the HVAC box, to meet with the Radar Detector's male plug behind the glove box. The end result is nice. I acctually like the extension cable better than if I had wired it directly. If need be, I can discretely reach down and turn off the radar detector at the plug, rather than having to reach up by my mirror to turn it off at the unit. It can not be seen at all from the out side of the car. Inside the car, it is very discrete, with no wire hanging in the way to draw attention.
Again, I know that this is a very simple mod, but perhaps someone will find the idea useful. I will try to post pictures on Sunday(2-26-06).

Radar detectors let will let the driver know when the police are using Radar Devises to measure the speed of vehicles, for the purpose of enforcing speed limit laws.
-Well, bad spelling aside, I hope that clears it up.
Here are some pics of the instal. The detector picture came out dark, but it shows the placment.
