Custom Turbos

anyone know anything about doing custom turbos.
I personally have never installed a turbo system. but am considering doing it with my rio. I saw the pics in the other topic(thats a lot of money for a turbo) considering you can buy all the parts for a turbo off ebay for just over a $1000

thats a full kit you geting in the uther post. ECU and all. for that $1000.oo i am beting you dont have a FMS.

Are you trying to do a backyard turbo setup or a decent reliable setup... I'm 3000 deep in my custom setup but everything is built show quality and the turbo is a GT25R -900 bucks on it's own.. So really you have to look at that facts... Can you weld.. Do you understand the operations of a turbo setup.. Do you feel comfortable fabricating something and making it work.. If not you hvae to find someone to build manifolds, charge piping, exhaust which is a ton of money on it's own. For a reliable turbo set up you need:

-Turbo - perferably new or remanufactored by a reliable source
-Turbo manifold - custom fabricated in most Kia cases if you have an 06 an 06 accent on will work
-Larger fuel injectors - more air means more fuel
-BOV
-Wastegate
-Intercooler - Always new - used ones can have hole and leak
-Some means of Fuel/ignition control aside from the stock ECU
-Downpipe
-Charge piping - alot of fabrication will be involved here and one of those $100 ebay kits probally won't cut it
-Oil feed / drain / coolant lines
-Turbo Gaskets - inlet and discharge

Ussually when you sit down and figure it out you realize that 2-3G is a fair esitmate on a reliable turbo setup.

body wise none, engine yes the have a turbo for it and a bit more to make the 06 rio a 200 horsepower car
