Hi all, I've had my new 2006 Rio 5dr auto (1.6 petrol) now for about 2 weeks and it's exceeded all my expectations!

I have one question regarding the auto trans though. When shifting into reverse, the trans engages immediately, but when selecting drive, there is a slight delay (around 1 second) before it feels like it's ready to go.

This behaviour is the same hot or cold and the ATF level is correct.

Anybody else have this delay in the new model auto Rio?

Thanks, Rick

I have noticed this with my Rio as well FYI. When I take it into the dealer for the first oil change...I'm going to ask about this.

I called in to the dealership today and checked their demo auto sedan (4 door).

Exactly the same as mine and mwrobe1's cars, so I guess it would be safe to assume that the delay must be normal.

I have not had this in my kia rio5.... other then the lag in up shifting... there is no lag between reverse and drive or the other way around.
