Default Removing 2009 Optima Headlight Assemblies

I'm in the process of installing my HID kit into my Optima, and for the life of me, I can't remove the assemblies. I went to the KIA tech info site, and it describes removing an interfering radiator bolt, which doesn't exist comparing the picture to my car.

Does anyone have any experience with this?

If you have the two 10mm bolts out, the assemblies are still held in by a clip (maybe 2?). Sometimes that clip doesn't want to let go, and it takes a significant amount of force to get it to release. Just take care not to break it.

So there is just two bolts then? It seems like the clip closest to the fender is the culprit, as the side of the assembly towards the grille, comes out. I guess I'll need to pull harder, it just seems like I'm going to rip the front end off if I pull harder.

Did you remove the piece of plastic covering the radiator?

Maybe the bolt it mentions is underneath that? I forgot the redesign model was for 09, not 10. I am not familiar with that particular headlight assembly, but I'm sure the clips are no less of a bitch.

Yes, I removed the plastic cover. There aren't any bolts where the diagram shows there to be. I looked down the side, and such and there wasn't anything there that's holding the assembly to the radiator/grille area.

Then it's probably just those clips. Is it equally difficult on both sides? I've managed to take skin off the back of my knuckles removing headlight assemblies.

It pulls out like no ones business on the grille side, but the fender side won't nearly come out as much. It feels like a bolt is holding it in, with how little it wants to give.

I had the same problem with those very tight clips on the headlight corners, when upgrading my low beam projectors to HID on my 07 Optima. Check out this link, with pictures. All the bolts on ours should be 10 mm, but those clips are so stubborn. Always remember to apply silicone to all bolts, clips and body trim when removing them to aid in easing future access. Be sure to verify all installed bulbs before replacement.
