Default Removing Kia Emblems?

Has anyone removed their KIA emblems on the grill and trunk lid? If so what did you replace them with if you replaced them? Post pics if you have any. I would like to replace mine.

I was thinking about:

Korean Auto Imports

But don't know who "ING" is.

or

detail KSPEC KDM Performance Center

What do you guys think?

I replaced the trunk lid emblem of my 2008 Kia Optima LX with this

The original trunk emblem on my car measured about 116mm x 58mm and replaced the vacated area by centering the 108mm x 54mm carbon fiber emblem I purchased from KSPEC.

Here is the result:

Check my 'how to' post on this subject: http://www.kia-forums.com/kia-magent...tml#post234530

I kept the front grill emblem to let people I'm following before overtaking them on the road know I'm driving an inexpensive 'quality' car (please don't argue with me on this for this is just my personal opinion of my Optima.)

Hey man thanks for the info, it's good to know that there are two tabs behind the emblem. I also look at those carbon fiber emblems, it looks clean on your black car. Mine is white so I am not sure how it will look.

I am leaning towards this emblem for the trunk lid: M&S Oval Emblem Small:eBay Motors (item 110387399668 end time Jul-07-09 01:59:18 PDT)

And for the grill: M&S Oval Emblem Medium:eBay Motors (item 370200041451 end time Jul-10-09 10:00:50 PDT)

I think I am going to replace the grill emblem although I do like your idea of keeping it to show some KIA pride. KIA has come along way since they first came to the US and are building some very nice cars these days. I am not ashamed to drive a KIA.

Hey All,

Has anyone simply de-badged the front of a G3 Optima? I have the 2007 and was wondering If anyone has done it. Can you let me know if the whole oval piece comes off and you're left with the just the chrome bars across and post a pic please and thanks.

The badge is one piece and is easily removed by gently prying the edges with a flat blade screwdriver. Use a towel or something else under the screwdriver to protect the grill. Unfortunately if you take the badge off you are left with an oval in the grill that the badge sits in. I painted my badge black to match the grill, now it pretty much disappears.

Did you use some kind of special paint to cover the badge? I'm considering painting my whole grill black (some of the chroming has chipped off) and I'm wondering what kind of paint to use...

I painted the grille black, but, after some consideration, opted to leave the Kia emblem as is. The emblem can be removed by gently pushing the tabs inward, but as the 3 are plastic, be careful. Also, there was 2 sided tape behind the emblem, so it doesn't come off easily.
To paint the grille or emblem, just scuff it up, wash, dry, wipe down with Acetone, spray with adhesive enhancer, then some black trim paint, at least that was my routine.

Take the following measurement (in millimeter) of your existing emblems using the image below as a guide:

1. Measure point A to point B – the length of your existing badge.
2. Measure point B to point C - the width of your existing badge.

With those measurements you’ve taken, go back to the KSPEC website and look for an emblem that is of the same size as your existing one.

I don’t know if the original emblem on your Spectra sits in a pressed down area. If so, and KSPEC don’t have the exact size as your original emblem, you can select the next smaller size they have and have it centered in the depressed area. Just make sure the smaller size emblem you selected don't leave a lot of gap from the ledge of the depressed area to the edge of the replacement emblem.

Good luck in replacing your KIA emblem.
