Default Blacking out your Chrome Headlights on the 2006.5 up Optima

Here are some pics of my 2007 Optima with the Chrome Headlight Bezels blacked out. Let me know what you think! I think it makes the car look sportier and less tall and narrow- more like a Nissan Maxima from the front...

So what was your method? Krylon?

Whatever you used, I hope it holds up to the sunlight.

I used the Krylon Fusion line in satin black. It is supposed to outdoor use, so I'll see how it holds up. I didn't use flat black because it can "chalk" and look gray in spots over time. As long as the paint doesn't bubble/peel I think it will last pretty well. At least I know I can do it again if it does!

Looks GREAT! Now to do something about that stock grille to compliment those headlights.

I'd really like to find one of the "appearance package" grills that has the chrome trim around the OUTSIDE borders of the grill but is black in the center. I don't want all black necessarily, but I'm not a fan of the chrome bars in my non appearance package version.

And thank's for the compliment KIAZILLA!

Does this require baking the headlights to pull them apart and get to that part of the light?

Default Yes...

Yes, I did bake mine. But it could be done with a heat gun or a good hair dryer if you really want to go that route. It'd be hard to get the entire seal hot all at once though, and it's pretty much impossible to separate the outter lense without the whole seal being "soft."
