Default what have you done to your Optima?

What kinds of mods have you done to customize your ride? I keep thinking a new grille, 18" rims, CAI, etc. would be nice. But then I clean the salt and grime off the body and get the brake dust off the rims and think "Looks pretty good, I'll just leave it alone" So mine is all stock. For now.

I have seen many Optimas with 18" wheels. I think that they look a tad gaudy. 17" look nice, but 18" is just pushing it on a stock Optima. If your Optima gets lowered some, 18" will look fine. But, with stock ride-height, they look out of place.

Just my .02, and I'm not as "gangsta" as many other people on here.

P.S. Also, re-consider getting a CAI. A nice SRI is just as good (unless you are stuck in traffic) and you don't have to worry about puddles, rain, etc messing up your engine.

Once again... just my .02

Tuminatuh,
I know what you mean about a CAI possibly being a problem with puddles. But I like the sound as long as it's done right. I had a Pontiac GTP before and they made a cold air box that the filter was set into. It could be made to draw cold air from a hood scoop or from inside the fenderwell.
I have the factory 17" rims now. They look pretty good. But I like the width of a tire that can be mounted on 18"s.
BTW, what is an SRI?

SRI = short ram intake. It works just like a CAI, only the filter is inside the engine bay so, no hydro-lock!

Same power gain, same sound, slightly quicker throttle response than a CAI, no engine death.

I've installed the rock/mud gaurds and the trunk cargo net in/on my '08 Optima LX V6. Windows get tinted this week, and I want to run a pinstripe down the sides -- ruby red w/silver pinstripe is my plan. I like the 16" wheels the car came with -- good choice by Kia..IMO. I've thought about getting the blacked-out grille but the wife likes the chrome bars in the grille.

Just curious where you purchase the items you're talking about? I am looking for the blacked out appearance package grill for my 2007.

Also wondering what the rock/mud guards are exactly?

I got the rock/mud guards and the trunk cargo net from the parts department of my local Kia Dealer. I'll look for the receipt and get the part numbers if you need them. The rock/mud guards are black plastic and fit perfectly at the rear of each wheel well (F+R). You can just see a Kia rock/mud guard at the back of my 06 Spectra's rear wheel well in my Avatar -- looks similar to that.

You can get the blacked out grille and the black headlights but those are expensive.

Has anyone seen the ground effects package for the Optima on a car yet?
