Talking Good news for 2.4L world engine

After doing a lot of searching and reading everything i could find on the 2.4L world engine (3rd gen optima engine) i have found out nothing but great news. Everything i have read over the past month says that the aluminum block and internals are engineered to handle heavy engine loads. This means it can handle extreme temperatures thus resulting in an engine that can take alot of horsepower very easily. Some sources say 300 horsepower is safe. Here is one source, it is from the SRT-4 Caliber (same engine, but with TD04 mitzu turbo). 2008-2009 Dodge Caliber SRT-4 / SRT4 Review - Modern Racer - Auto Archive
So, sometime in the near future the options are going to be endless. And, hopefully, this could turn out to be one of the best street racing motors to date. Maybe it'll finally put KIA into some serious performance. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Street racing is a sensitive issue around MD these days. Accident at a street race killed 8 people.

street(n,adj) racing(v): the act of driving in a competitive manner in an attempt to reach a set destination before the other competitors. street racing, a usually illegally performed activity, results in more than 60 deaths and 2,500 arrests each year.

---------------------------

Street racing is stupid. Period. It doesn't matter if it is for fun or for money. It is a bad idea and you will eventually crash, hurt someone, hurt yourself, kill someone, get arrested, pay fines, or die.

Racing is fun. Just keep it at the track..... or just have some fun (like burnouts, donuts, slalom, autocross, etc) at your local abandoned parking lot, construction site, driveway, etc.

"Street" racing in sanctioned club events (like SCCA) is a completely different matter and is a lot of fun. I have not been involved in many years, but would love to see some KIAs compete.

Look everyone, i didn't mean for everybody to take "street racing motor" literally. I meant it as a figure of speech meaning a motor that can be modified by the regular joe and not just professional race teams. Sorry if anyone got the wrong idea. Personally I don't race anyone, but i do get on it a little bit sometimes when i'm driving in the country when no one is around. Who doesn't. Anyways, didn't mean to offend anyone. Oh, one more thing, if any of you are young and don't know any better, don't listen to a thing the big bad "TUMINATAH" has to say. He is a lonely little nerd that is trying his best to make friends. The only problem is he only has them on the internet.

Tum has quite a bit more credibility around here than you, mikefoist, and he's only trying to help.

wow why dont you guys sry? better yet start a special interest group against STREET RACING!!! uh oh did i say the "S" word. relax people. street racing has been around longer then your grandfathers. quit being so lame. if i wanna build a car to "street(n,adj) race(v): the act of driving in a competitive manner in an attempt to reach a set destination before the other competitors, then i will. and thats great if tum has respect around here. but this is a forum, a place to post anything you want to say about the overall topic. mike was simply informing people of the capabilities the 2.4 will someday have to be a semi-powerful car that may be somewhat fast. i didnt read anything stating that he was going to race the streets and kill people. Thanks for the info mike.

Did I miss something?

I was just tossing my opinion into the bag (isn't the internet supposed to be about free expression?). If you want to go out and street race, go for it! It is your decision. And don't thrash out at me trying to make me look like I think of myself as a god-figure. I am here only to help out and add my 2 cents in. If you don't like it, whatever... but don't put a jihad on me just because I mis-understood what you meant in one of your post.

I apologize for any emotional trauma I gave you, mikefoist, but I don't want you getting the wrong impression on me just because I tend to not agree with everything you say.

Lets move past this and get on with our lives... now, back on topic, please! What was the topic again? ..... something about..... radioactive..... granny..... eats..... flamingo..... hood ornaments? <---- sorry if you don't get the reference. If you do, +100 awesome points.

- Tum

I agree about street racing. I did do it with every car I had when I was young, but since I grew up...no way man. Just too dangerous.
