Default Aux input in 2006.5 Optima

Does anyone have any recommendations for adding an auxiliary input to a 2006.5 Optima LX stereo?

Default Aux input

The easiest way is to replace the stock radio. I have done it and it is really not that bad.

joewb,

Since you've replaced the stock radio - is there any place on the back of the stock unit to plug an aux. input in?

Default AUX/MP3 Jack upgrade

My sister bought a 6.5 Optima and wanted a MP3 aux input so I found a 07/08 Tiburon stereo with the upgraded so I purchased on ebay and it was an easy install. She now has a mutlple CD changer and a IPOD aux input.

Default Aux input

The stock radio does not have an aux input, you need to replace it. Replacing the radio will get you a lot of options, iPod, cd changer, HD radio, satellite, it will all depend upon the new head unit you choose.

About how much did it set you back? Was it an easy swap or did you have to jury rig it?

Sorry for the late reply but it was a plug in play. Very easy, just took out the old and replace the new. All wires matched.

Default Steering Controls

I've got steering wheel controls for my stock deck...

did you have this feature on the model that you swapped the deck out of? If so, how hard was it to rewire the steering wheel controls for the new deck?

I was just in the dealership for the annual inspection and they referred me to their accessories expert about an iPod connector for the 2007 Magentis. His reply was the following:

"We have a call out to our suppliers for availability and pricing on adding an iPod adapter to your Magentis.

The factory stereo has the ability to accept an auxiliary output to an I-pod player however KIA has not released an accessory to perform this function as of now."

This was January 17, 2008...so apparently the stock stereo does have an Aux In Input.

So, let's find out how to do this. I need to know how to remove my radio first and I couldn't find any diagrams on kiatech. So, if anybody has any help, let me know...i'll figure a way out to get an aux unit on it.
