Default Removing radio

The trim ring around the radio needs to come off. I bought a set of plastic pry tools from Crutchfield that made it very easy. You slide one of the pry tools between the edge of the radio and the surrounding trim ring. It will start to come off, then move to another spot and continue your way around the radio. The entire trim area, with the heater controls will come off. The first time I did it it was a little unnerving, but I have done it 4 or 5 times now and it is really no big deal. Four screws hold the radio in, take those out and the radio will come out. Good luck.

Did anyone get to keep the use of steering wheel audio controls when upgrading your radio? If so, how?

Thanks,
Nathan

Default Steering wheel controls

Yes, I was able to keep my steering wheel controls. I bought an Alpine head unit that can take a hard wired remote. I then bought a piece from Crutchfield (I think the manufacturer is PAC) that goes between the steering wheel controls and the radio, it works great. I now have the steering wheel controls and also the hand held remote that came with the head unit. I can control it while driving or people in the back seat can operate it too.
