The new Optima has two jacks below the center column -- one is an Aux input jack and the other is a headphone jack. Jacks appear in the EX trim level and confusion about being used only with a cell phone. Been told an iPod type of player sound can "play through" this bypass jack.

Maybe the jacks are only on the Magentis. My last car had alot of things that were on the Aussie version and not on the USA version. Maybe we have the jacks on the back of the head unit.

The jacks are located down at the front of the console leading up to the mid section.

They are simply not there on my Optima. I do have the EX package with the infinity 6disc in dash with sub system. I bet for some reason they did not put this on the US model and only on the magentis. Maybe if the stereo is the same I could just add it by getting the trim piece from Canada and running the wire. I installed my Valentine One today and with the fuse box on the side of the dash it was a very slick install that looks like the V1 came installed from the factory.

I do believe you. The Optima EX I saw was at a U.S. dealer and was being driven by the Kia regional representative. My dealer says jacks are not available in U.S. model... yet. Kia Customer Service wasn't aware of status either way. It bothers me that overseas get GPS and the jacks but not in the U.S. Most people would love to the jacks and many the GPS. Korea makes many GPS units but yet we don't see them on their cars here for some reason. Maybe as Hyundai and Kia keep expanding here in sales, they will add them. Just my two cents.

Maybe the one the rep had was in fact a euro or can unit........the thing is that if the head unit is the same it should be no problem to add the input. If the units in can have the jacks I bet I could just get the interior piece in can and run the wires from the head unit. I will be glad when they come out with some mods for the car. As of now no one even lists the car on their web sites.

I just purchased a 2007 Canadian model and it does not have the inputs...anyone know how to get the stock stereo out in order to check the back of it?
