Default replace air filter for cabin

Hi, i have a 2006 kia rio, 4 dr sedan. I have been trying to replace the air filter for cabin. I saw some posts saying it is located behind the glove box. But I have no idea how to remove the box. Thanks.

Look at https://www.kiatechinfo.com/ if you haven't already.

A/C Air Filter > Repair procedures > Replacement:
1. Open the glove box. Lower the glove box down completely by removing the glove box stopper to the glove box.
2. Remove the filter cover with pushing the knob.
3. Replace the air filter, install it after making sure of the direction of air filter.

Any auto parts store should be able to sell you a specific cabin air filter that fits the Rio.

You have to kind of pop the rubber stoppers on the inside of the glove box by prying them inward. I used a screw driver and my fingers until I got them free enough to allow the glove box to open up. Make sure you empty the glove box though as you have to drop it down to get at the filter. I forgot the first time and my stuff spilled onto the floor and out the door.

Thats great. I cannot wait to try it this afternoon.

By the way, by "prying them inward", do you mean prying them toward the inside of the glove box? I wanna make sure my understanding is correct and i will not break them. lool
Thanks a lot.

Yes, they will slide into the glove box. They are made of rubber and quite sturdy.

Thanks, fevrej.

Finally i took the stopper off, but i have not figured out how to "Remove the filter cover with pushing the knob".

Where is the knob? on both sides of the filter cover?

Thanks.

Yes, they knobs on either side of the filter cover need to be squeezed together and then you can pull the filter out.

Hi, fevrej,

what the red arrows point toward are knobs, right? they are part of the air filter. so if we squeeze them, that is to say, pushing them inward, the filter will be easily removed.

Is my understanding right? i will try it very soon.
thank you.
