Hey all, this is my 2008 Rio Base. I just had it dynoed today. For anybody out there wondering what numbers it makes this is it. I have SRI, Megan header, and Kia factory performance catback as power mods. 100.5 hp and 111.8 tq at the wheels. Im waiting on Bill at KFX to send me the tuned ecu and i will put her on the dyno again. I have been working on this car for a couple years now. If you guys have any questions ill be more than happy to help.
Thats pretty Nice. My 01 was close to that, I have been hesitant to power up my 08 since its a DD and its my Wifes DD, so with 2 regular operators...
I did rebuild the intake to put a K&N (Hello acceleration in 5th), Put some better plugs in at 50K, and it has a "racing" timing belt (that made a huge difference in torque, at least the feel)
Where do you think I can go from here? I am in the 08 Rio5, and I dont want to do CatBack unless the factory falls apart. I used to have more access to diagnostic equipment, but now I have kids and the garage had to shed some items.
What kind of "racing" timing belt do you have? Honestly the only way to get more power is to go catback exhaust or header or both. You can get the kia factory performance catback on ebay for like $100 now if you do some searching. You could also do cams but good luck finding them. I havent had any luck. You could contact Bill Hurlin at KFX and see if he can sell you a header but those are around $300. Cheapest mod is the catback and its from KIA so its bolt on. Bill also offers a tuned ECU but i wouldnt do it unless you have supporting mods.
I wasnt sure that my limit was there, but I thought it was. Headers may happen in the next year, but if the factory bolt-on catback is that cheap...its time to mod. Thanks
Its a gates racing. Inexpensive, and I was at 55K, my daughter was about to be born, so I did that and replaced the water pump in one go. I figured with her coming I wouldnt have the time. But I will have time in a month or two since my eldest is off to school.
