Question gear shifter cable adjustment

Put in new clutch kit Now second fourth and reverse feels short when shifting and 4th pops out of gear frequently. I think the gear shifter cables need to be adjusted but not sure where to find the adjusting nut or how to do it. Any advice would be helpful. Thank you in advance. I am a home health community nurse and desperatly need my car to earn a living. I didnt put the clutch kit in but a friend did and he is out of state for the next 3 weeks. Please explain it like you talking to a non mechanical female. LOL

Thanks
