Default Sportage (2005) V6 Spark Plug Change Problems

I am trying to replace the rear 3 spark plugs on my 2005 Sportage. There is another thread (by BllyBunter) relating to this but I am still having problems. I am having trouble removing the what I think is called the cover (see attached photo of one removed). I have removed 11 fasteners: 5 bolts at the front, 2 nuts at the front (left and right sides), 2 nuts at the rear left (cylindrical section) and 2 bolts at the rear centre/right. BillyBunter's thread mentions that you need to remove 12 fasteners to get this off so there is still one I'm missing. He also refers to the throttle body inlet plenum and the firewall but I'm not sure what these are. If anyone could help me I would be very grateful. It must be that there is a hidden bolt/nut at the rear as it is lifting up slightly at the front but it is solid at the rear. All this to change 3 spark plugs. Rather frustrating.

Thanks in advance.

Fyodor.

Correction, at the rear left cylindrical section (interface to the throttle body plenum I think), I removed one bolt and one nut. There is still one stud left on there. It looks to me as if the cover should just slide over that stud but it is still stuck solid.

Can you double nut the stud and remove it?

I removed the 2 studs at the front by doubling up the nuts and screwing it out. It doesn't look as if the stud at the rear needs to be removed as it was still in place in the photo that BillyBunter provided. I did try to remove it however just in case but it is very inaccessible and there wasn't enough space to get my wrench in and turn it.

Fyodor.

Were you ever able to remove/replace the 3 spark plugs? How?

I'm planning to change mine soon.

Another way is to remove the entire upper intake manifold. 5 bolts at the front, 2 nuts at the front.

At ther rear there are two brackets that connect the inlet manifold to the head. Can't remember if they are bolts or nuts on studs. The one on theleft has two (one for the head, one for the manifold). The bracket to the right has 4, two for the head, two for the manifold. The bracket to the right also holds some vacum lines.

What the guys above have explained is to seperate the surge tank halves. The way I have done it does not do this.

Plus connectors etc.

Pain in the ass just to get to 3 spark plugs.
