Default Replace Fuel Filter?? VERY Confused!!

07 Sportage EX. It says in the owners manual to replace the fuel filter at 37,500 miles and again at 75,000 miles. Also says to replace the fuel tank air filter at 30,000 miles and again at 60,000 miles. My Sportage is at 62K miles and have never replaced either one of these.

My BIG question is the fuel filter and fuel tank air filter separate parts? On the KGIS site it says the fuel filter is part of the fuel pump assembly. To me this doesn't make any sense. So where is the fuel filter located at? It has to be separate from the fuel pump in order to replace it according to the owners manual. Thanks for your advice!

You basically answered your own question. If you read your first post you should see one is a "fuel" filter and the other is an "air" filter.

As the gas is drawn from the tank air is pulled into the tank. You don't want air contaminated with dirt drawn in and getting into your fuel lines.

Yes...they are separate filters located in different locations.

You can get information about their locations at "kiatechinfo.com". You will need to be running Microsoft Windows (XP,VISTA,7) and running Internet Explorer and will need to download and install Adobe's SVG software (scaled vector graphics).

There is a moderate learning curve on this site as not everything is in the most logical location....BUT...there is a wealth of information there.

Why? Because they fit filters to protect your fuel system?

So, because you have to replace fuel and air filters on your Kia, which you are over due on replacing...you won't buy a Kia again???? That is the dumbest thing I've heard of!!!!!!!!
The next car you buy, WHATEVER brand it may be,...guess what.....THEY HAVE FUEL AND AIR FILTERS THAT NEED TO BE REPLACED AS WELL!!!!
The fuel filter mounted on the fuel pump inside the gas tank is $35.62 brand new OEM Kia part. The OEM air filter for the fuel tank is $15.57.
It's your car, replace them if you like, or don't.
