Hi, thanks for the PDF - I do have a slight thumping noise from the rear left (I thought it might be something to do with the exhaust system) do you think this part will help cure the temprature related horrible creaking noise as well ??

Cheers
Ron

Default Thanks Pulsar86!

I had to address this problem in my sportage last june. I found your post, printed the pdf, and took it to our mechanic. He confirmed that the strut mounts were responsible for the horrible suspension noise. I replaced both rear strut mounts and all four struts.with KYB Excel struts. problem is gone. Even less suspension noise than when we first got the car.

This strut mount issue should be a recall for sure!

I am being told that the noise in my Sportage arises from bad links in the rear sway bar.

Figured I report my experience here too. I had the same horrible clunking noises in the front and rear. Replaced all struts and mounts with KYB units at 85,000 miles. It cured the noises. If I had to do it again, I would have just done the mounts, the struts themselves were still fine, no leaks, etc. The mounts were noticably shot. The bearings in the front ones are only sealed on the lower side from the factory. Moisture/water entry through the top caused them to rust and they had tons of play in them. The KYB units appear to be higher quality with a name brand bearing I recognize (NTN, which is a supplier to Honda) and it is fully sealed.

If you are doing this job, get the upper and lower spring cushions too. I was able to revive mine after a good washing in Dawn and hot water and an overnight soak in some silicone in a bag, but would have rather replaced.
