Front end wobble/vibration
I have a 2008 4Cyl Manual Sportage which was purchased from new.
No major accidents or any other damage to the vehicle.
It has been regularly serviced and I have had no problems with the vehicle until just before the 100,000 K mark came up.
It suddenly developed what seems to be a front end wobble, only under acceleration at around 3000 rpm and only when accelerating...as soon as you lift, the wobble is gone...so that kind of rules out tyres, rims, struts etc.
You can physically see it in the steering wheel and feel it through the seat.
I assumed it was just a tyre issue, switching between summer/winter tyres...so I thought it would go when switching back to the summer tyres around May/June... and several months out of warranty!...it didn't.
Thankfully, because the dealer had looked at the issue when it was still under warranty, and determined it was just bad tyres, they have agreed to resolve this under warranty...kudos to them.
So far they have replaced the front passenger side drive shaft as the mechanic said he could feel a little play in it, this hasn’t resolved the problem and we’re waiting for the next step.
I’m seeing a few posts on the forum for similar issues and what concerns me is that some are completely different models. This could just be that people are incorrectly describing the symptoms but after reading the posts they seem to be exactly the same.
So my question is what do all these models have in common?...a Rio and Sportage for instance...surely there can’t be that many parts that are common to both?
I’d be interested in seeing if there are any other ’08 Sportage owners that have the same problem or HAD the same problem.
