Hello all I am about to tackle replacing the trans in my 4 wheel drive sportage this weekend (the housing is cracked right at the slave cylinder). I have been searching like crazy and cannot find a write up or any information on how to do this job. I'm pretty mechanically inclined I'm just looking for what to expect as far as difficulty and time i can expect to spend. I apologize if this is posted some where already but I cannot find it for the life of me.

Hello Pauley and welcome to the Kia forums.
I have ta copy of workshop procedure for Tucson but putting on line would infringe copyright laws.
The manual is too large to send by email but may be able to send the part you require if you post an Email it could be sent to.
Your Personal profile should be filled in so we can see more details of car and your region for your best response.

So it's all apart bell housing is completely cracked. Pressure plate pressure plate bolts and dowel pins have a ton of damage. Also the front of the starter is ground off. I have no clue why. There is also considerable grind markes inside the bell housing.

It is not unknown for parts of clutch to become detached such as bits of spring thrust assembly etc .
The front of starter motor you mean part that engages with ring. Usual cause loosely mounted starter you may be able to clean up ring gear but Dog will be harder, may need replacement.

That's the issue there were no loose parts in the housing and the clutch was 100% intact. A lot of the bolts were not very tight and both front and rear motor mount bolts were loose. As well as had writing on them ie: front rear. Also had arrows on them dictating which way they went. I'm thinking that it was apart before because something came loose and put back together after said debris were removed. Either way I'm waiting for a new starter and pressure plate bolts from Kia then I will be putting back together next weekend. Thank you all for all of your help it is greatly appreciated.
