Default Power steering Fluid type

Hi, I have a 2001 Sephia.
I'm going to change the rack and pinion. The owner's manual says the power steering fluid is Dexron II E or M-III. Can't find it. The power steering fluid I find in the stores doesn't say if is Dexron.
Does anyone know which I can use?

Thanks for the help!

I would say your regular over the counter stuff is fine.
Thats all I ever use in the p/s systems. I wouldn't see it hurting anything.
Just use a well known brand, not some cheap brand.

Thanks for the info.

I just went to one of the kia dealer and ask in the parts department what type of fluid can be used and the guy said any power steering fluid.

Yes, the only fluids I found that are dexron are automatic transmission fluids.
But that's what the owner's manual says you should use.
I found another dealer that says now kia has it's own power steering fluid. They want $28 for one quart.
The first dealer I talked to, said I can use any brand and he actually said they don't sell this fluids.
The second dealer said they sell it for $28.

No, I didn't read the wrong one. The owner'r manual says that. I also have the Chilton and Haynes manuals and they also have this type for the power steering.

Wink

Those Kias Use the Same Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) as Power Steering Fluid; Just like my Subarus... If you Switch to Regular Power Steering Fluid, your Steering Wheel will Become Harder.

I Switched to Regular Power Steering Fluid in one of my Subarus due to a Worn seal, and that Stopped a Leak... but leave a Harder Steering.

Kind Regards.
