As complement, let me Add some Photos and Info, about the "Relay & Fuse Center" on the Engine bay.

Here you can see the Two kind of Relays that the Second gen Kia Sephia does have there, one is Bigger than the other, but both does have the same Sized and Shaped pins in the same placement, and mounts equal:

The Smaller one is Known as: "Micro Relay" while the Bigger one is known as: "Mini Relay" According to the tab under the Fuse & Relay center's cover:

This is How the Relay & Fuse Center looks like,

On my Wife's "KiaStein" - Note how the Relays are Placed:

You can easily note that any relay there could be taken out, flipped 180º and reinserted back again...

The Relays has four pins, all of them of the same size and shape, and are equally aligned; so you can remove any mini relay or micro relay, flip them 180º and place them back; they will fit identically in both positions, see:

What I did to place them "Correctly" was to get a 12 volts bulb in a socket with wires, connected the bulb's negative wire to the ground and used the bulb's positive wire to locate where is the pin Nº 30 (Permanent 12 volts + alive) on each socket; what I discovered are two interesting things:

  1. Some relays goes with the "Kia" name up, and others goes with the "Kia" name upside down.
  2. The Relays and Mini Relays on the second gen Sephia, are reversibles.

So, they will work equal if you place them normal or 180º ... ... Why? ... well, there are two circuits inside relays, each one has a positive and a negative; and the Kia designers managed to get the positive and the negative of each circuit in the same pins on each side, and the electromagnetic actuator inside works in two ways somehow, so if you reverse those relays, the current will still flow as it should...

Despite that, I placed the pin Nº 30 of each relay and mini relay, following the placement of the permanent alive 12 volts + on each socket.

Kind Regards.

There is a Reason why the Relay's pins are marked with 30 (input) 87 (output) and the other two are the switching signal; so despite that the Kia Sephia's relays could work Backwards, they were intended to be placed in one direction: the Pin 30 shall receive the permanent (input) power; otherwise the Kia engineers would not mark any pin on the relays, nor draw their internal's diagram on their top.

Long story Short: Despite that those Relays also work placed backwards, it is a preventive measurement only, and they must be placed in the proper direction; otherwise the secondary internal circuit will bear the load intended for the primary -main- internal circuit, shortening their lifespan.

Kind Regards.
