Default Car door lock broken, stuck closed

As you can see, my 2001 KIA Sephia's driver side door is stuck locked. The door will not open from the inside and out, since it is stuck in the lock position. Obviously the mechanism is broken some how, so I want to be able to fix it. But I can't get the door panel off without opening the door. Does anyone have any idea how to open the door? I would like to avoid having to destroy the panel to fix it...

Oh man, I don't know. Perhaps you can pry the door panel back w/o breaking it enough to access the lock, but that sounds like a pain. You may be in the running for a trip to the junk yard to find a new door panel after you're done.

my wifes optima did the same thing on the drivers door, once you are able to get the door unlocked and opened. you have to keep messing with the kep in the door lock trying to unlock it, it will finally unlock. its the part that has 3 bolts that holds it to the door, and has all of the levers that connect to it. i cant remember what its call, but i bought a new one at kia it only cost like 58 bucks it i remember right. i hope that helps

sure the wd40 might work for alittle while, i took my wifes off and used a dremal to grind down the peice that was catching and making it not want to unlock, and that only worked for so long then started to act up again, the only true fix is to replace the part thats bad, it doesnt cost much. and then you know its fixed.
