Default Excessive shift lever play

Recently purchsed an 01 Sephia, 5MT. The shift lever has very excessive play; it does go through the gears and shifts up, but the swing of the shifter is very, very wide. Was told by the previous owner that there is a "shift pack" that can be installed by removing the console and the shift lever. I have changed the rubber bushing for the shift rod in another car (Honda) that had a similar problem. Can anyone confirm that there is such a pack or perhaps a bushing that needs replacing.
Many thanks in advance for your help and advice.

it's either the bolt for the shift lever is too small (someone lost the right one and used a generic bolt) or the bushings on the shift lever and shift rod are shot. there's also bushings that the ball on the shift lever sits in that could be worn out it just depends on what the play in the lever feels like. as for a "shift pack" i have no idea what that would be unless they're talking about a whole set of new bushings for the shifter assembly.

Many thanks for the information. I will go by the dealer this week and get a look at the linkage diagram and bushings. From the wide, wide throw on the lever itself, I am thinking that the bushing that the lower lever goes into is the culprit, I'll take a look at the ones I can see and start from there.

Thanks Again,
Lexie
