For a DIY first time on the timing belt, give yourself a full day to do it, and don't make any firm plans for the following day in case you need a bit more time.

If you have an assistant, like I did, and they install the "timing belt guide plate" on the crank pulley, like mine did, make sure they don't put it on backwards, like he did-- it will shred your belt as soon as you turn it over the first time. Then you're back at square one.
