Did everyone bring their Sorento to the dealership to do their first 5k? I've been doing my own maintenance since I've owned a car and the last time was in 2004. Lol been awhile since I've owned a new vehicle
First time poster, hi guys.
Funny you ask that, I just took mine in for its first 6k service (I'm in Canada so it's KM, would be about 3800 miles to you guys in the USA)
Is that what mileage is recommended there by Kia for your first oil change? They recommend every 6000km here.
I've always followed dealer service intervals and paid top dollar, but this time around I said just change the oil and don't touch anything else on the car.
Any thoughts on your preferred maintenance schedules?
I've also always used synthetic, but Kia just uses regular oil. Was hoping to go the synthetic route and push my oil changes to every 10k instead of 6...I am doing it every 16k on my Jetta 10 years running and never an issue, also vw approved btw.
Kia's factory-defined maintenance schedule indicates that the first maintenance should be 7,500 miles (12,000km). I don't understand why anyone would spend more money, especially at the dealer (of course, at the dealer's "recommendation") when it is nothing more than a money grab on their part.
given Canadian weather conditions we are all required to follow the severe maintenance table. 6,000km is the limit unless you have the turbo which is 5,000km. normal is 12,000km
Did the first oil change at 3700 miles and went to the dealership for the oil filter. $13 for it and full synthetic oil. I don't think I'll be going to the dealership unless for warranty issues
