Ivory vs Metalic Black Nappa Leather Seats

Hello,

My preference in cars is to have light exterior and interior. We have white Acura TSX with parchment interior. It has 50K miles on it now and it never required any extra clean-up.
Therefore for Sorento my first choice was SXL with Pearl white exterior / Ivory White interior. While checking out the car at the dealer I noticed that white door interior and handle look very dirty with lots of dark marks on them.

Those of you who have Ivory interior, do you find that it gets dirty fast and requires frequent cleaning?

I wish they would have other non-black colors for the interior. Does anyone know if these are coming in 2018 model?

My main concern with Metalic Black Nappa is that it would heat up a lot in Summer. I had this issue with my other car for which I had to buy beige seat covers.

I feel the same as you about the colors and the black seats in the summer heating up. We saw the 2016 SX with champagne seats and loved it but the available one was a turbo so we said no. We are looking often for information on the 2018 colors and added items (if any) so we can make our decision to get a 2017 or 2018 SXL. I hope any info or links to the 2018 Sorento will be posted in this forum as soon as it becomes available. I also hope they go back to the 2016 adjustable headrests !!

I also have the white interior and it was a fluke! The sales person said it was a black interior which is what I wanted and when they drove the car in it was the white nappa. I was so disappointed but looking inside I couldn't say it looked bad. It made the car look very luxurious and this is how I wanted to feel in the car. That's the reason I went with the sxl. This is my first ever light interior. I am a messy person and my wife was totally against it. I've had the car for a while now and I must say the interior is holding up very well. It looks great and hasn't gotten dirty. I did get a cleaner/conditioner from pep boys because I saw a spot on the door panel and didn't want to let it fester. It came right off and I was very happy. I don't think that spot was my doing but it's gone now and the leather hasn't gotten dirty at all. I'm keeping my on the bottom because I wear jeans and don't want to get that blue stain at the edge of the seats. So far so good. No stains. Hope this helps.

White interior SXL here and I have had no issues with staining or the leather appearing dirty. I tend to take care of my stuff so I treat it well but I haven't really done anything to the leather so far (5 months now). I did notice a small line (3/8" long maybe) of pen ink on the driver's side door handle a little while back -- I think it happened at the dealer when I was getting a software update. I was able to clean it off (with window cleaner or similar) to the point that you won't notice it unless you are really really looking hard. So it does come clean even if you do mess it up some.

Ivory white interior on my Sorento. You need to be on top of it's maintenance if you want it to preserve it's look. One problem I have is that it's easy to stain, especially if someone gets in in new jeans after the rain. You have to oil and lock the leather and inspect it often after you carry someone around. It's definitely more work then with dark leather.
I would not be afraid of dark leather interior getting too hot. Sorento has pretty good solar glass that resists interior heating and very efficient air conditioning to cool it off fast.

Update: silly me I wore jeans in the rain and of course got the dreaded blue stain that I was worried about. Here is a pic of it and some other foreign stain that I don't know what it is on the side.

I had bought this cleaner ahead of time.

I think I got good results. My eyes hurt from looking at it hard so all I see are blue stains all over but I think I got it lol.

I've been using Chemical Guys Inner Clean on all of the interior surfaces. It works particularly well at removing the dye from jeans. It also doesn't leave everything looking greasy/shiny.

The car manufacturers have lead everyone to believe that the seats are leather but they don't mention that it's sub grade leather that's embossed and coated in plastic. That makes the upholstery easy to clean and long lasting but it doesn't look, feel or smell like real leather.

Leather conditioners and cleaners are the wrong product to be using on these seats. Use products designed for vinyl/plastic and you'll get better results.
