Our Sorento has the large in-dash screen that displays navigation, radio, and other cool things. Unfortunately, I find the manual very limiting when it comes to explaining what the "media" button is used for. I thought I read somewhere the system comes with a few GB's of internal storage. How does one access this storage and how would I load content onto it? What sort of content does this internal hard drive store? The Kia manual is very vague about a lot of the features the car has.

Thanks!

Does this manual help?

in canada the manuals included one specific to the entertainment system that details how to load songs into the hard drive. this document might be what you are looking for http://www.kia.com/us/content/media/all/uvo/uvodocs/UsersGuide.pdf

specifically this section in teh attached picture points you to the section you need to refer to

It is explained in the manual for the Nav system titled "Car Multimedia System User's Manual". The feature you are looking for is called "My Music". How to copy files there is actually in the section about playing USB files as that is the only way to copy files to the internal memory. When playing a selection from USB you select the menu option and then "save to my music" and it will copy the file to the internal memory. To access those files you would then select the "my music" option from the media menu.

Media is also how one can get a CD in the drive to begin playing if the radio was on Sirius XM or radio etc.

I still listen to CDs and expect - given the apparent rising interest (at least according to articles i read in a physical newspaper) - in vinyl records among millenials that self-driving cars might get these as well .
