It is time for me to replace the stock Kumho tires on my '16 SX. I am keeping the stock 235-55-19 size, and I was wanting feedback from anyone that has changed/upgraded the stock tires, without changing size. In your feedback include driving style, hwy/street mix, etc. Thanks

Thanks for the responses.. I have about 23K on the Kumho, and they are done... Of course, that is due mostly to my 'spirited' driving style :D. The Michelin LTX tires are on the list, and I am certainly envious of our northern neighbors that get them stock on the SX!

Nexxen aside, I discovered I had a screw in my Rt front today, so I moved up the tire buy. I went with the Michelins, and so far they do seem to be worth every penny. Of course, it started to downpour right after I left the tire store, so I can't speak much about the dry performance, but the wet performance is much improved from the Kumhos.. I'll have to wait until tomorrow to really try them out on dry roads. Thanks for all the responses..

Thanks BrianC302. I've found that usually after a month or two the handling improves some. I also am going to look at the tire pressures a bit. The Kumhos seemed to do better at 40 psi, and the Michelins are at 38 right now.

Hey,

Just to let you know when it comes time to replace your tires, it's wise to know what is currently on your vehicle and to learn about the number of choices. In most cases, you'll want identical solutions, matching the size and speed rating. You can use the ratings to find styles that fit the locations that may matter most to you, such as braking, handling, ride comfort, and noise. It also vary on car type, rim type such as all year or premier, driving aggressiveness, and even road and different weather conditions. I suggest before going ahead with the decision one should check these information will help alot for sure.

I strongly suggest while choosing the option to change rim or tyre size buy it from dealer or service centro.

Good day.

Talking tires... Up north here (Vancouver) I want to buy winter tires and put them on steel rims. Anyone know where I can get a set of a fairly inexpensive 19" steel rims for the '16 Sorento 2.0 turbo SX? Even state side if you know of a store. I have a US postal account so can get them delivered there.

Hi folks,

I am also in the market for a set of tire/rims for my 2016 Sorento SX+.

Why is everyone recommending Michelin Premier LTX instead of the X-Ice XI3 ? X-Ice are rated 1 in consumer report. Premier LTX are all-season tire, while X-Ice are winter tire. Blizzak DM-V2 is also a very good pick from what i read.

Also, stock tire are 19" on the SX+, is it worth to pick a different (maybe smaller ?) size for winter tire ?

Quebec here, so we get lot of snow !

I don't know about Northern USA but down this side of the border here in New England there are actually very few roads that have enough snow for me to worry about on an all-season tire. I used to purchase winter tires years ago and then realized I was throwing away money since the roads are only really snowy the day/night it actually snows. The rest of the time there is so much darn salt and sand, it's mostly standing water. I second the Michelin's that come with the SXL. I drove both the SX and SXL in heavy rain at speed and preferred the Michelin tires. SUV tires are pretty aggressive compared to passenger car tires anyhow.

Winter tires aside, I love the Michelins. Now, with better tires, I really wish I had fatter sway bars for better roll control on the Sorento.....
