i have noticed that the hottest part of the steering (when heated steering wheel is turned on) is the rear of the wheel behind the V (or U) spoke is. the heat there has caught me unawares sometimes - the rest of the steering wheel is comfortable to hold. Anyone else having this issue?
I have a 2017 SX V6 with tech package and my whole steering wheel is leather and heated except a tiny bit right at 6 o'clock position. So I think it is only the SXL that has the ugly fake wood thing going on that doesn't have a fully heated wheel.

Thanks for that information @CGoguen - appears it is Canadian SX and SX+ (and likely US SXL) that have that piano black (cold to the touch in winter) section to deal with. What was Kia Canada thinking .....

That heated steering wheel is a quirk with Canadian packaging. US only gets heated steering wheel on SX* trims.

But you don't have the 360 degree camera or the additional sound deadening or chrome wheels with chrome accents.

Nope. I was referring only to the wheel thing. The chrome and camera upgrades didn't seem worth an extra $3k+ to me.

I don't like the feel of that part of the steering wheel even when it isn't cold. I don't like that fact that it feels different from the rest of the steering wheel.
Mind sharing what the outside temperature was? Because I'm willing to bet you're the only person in Tampa Bay who uses a heated steering wheel. I'm in frickin' Chicago and I've never cared that my cars don't have one.

They're not. The EX is the absolute sweet spot in terms of features and price point, but this is a fanboy forum, so you're definitely gonna see more people who splurged for the extra appearance packages.

quaquaqua Please be mindful of the fact that other people are reading this forum to get information to help them make an informed buying decision. They may well assume that since you are an owner that the things you say are true. In this instance that is clearly not case.

Based on Kia's web site...
http://www.kia.com/us/en/vehicle/sorento/2016/features

These are things you can only get on the top trim SXL. I did not take the time to compare it to your even lower trim EX because I make my point without doing so. I don't think it is accurate to characterize many of these things as appearance package items. And speaking for myself, I would not have purchased any car that did not have, particularly the technology features on this list, but others as well.

One more thing. Even though it doesn't mention it on the page I linked to, I learned in one of the YouTube reviews I watched, that as you go up in trim levels Kia adds additional sound proofing to make the ride more luxurious.

ONLY AVAILABLE ON THE SXL TRIM LEVEL
----------------------------------------------
High-Intensity Discharge (HID) Projector Beam Headlights w/ Auto-Leveling
LED Front Fog Lights
19" Alloy Wheels, Chrome
Michelin Tires
Lower Door Moulding, Chrome
Surround View Monitor (SVM)
Advanced Smart Cruise Control (ASCC)
Blind-Spot Detection (BSD) System
Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS)
Electronic Parking Brake (EP with Auto-Hold
Premium Nappa Leather Seat Trim
Ventilated Front Seats
Heated 2nd-Row Seats
Heated Steering Wheel
Alloy Pedals
