I'm with you 100% that the dealer should fix the problem. This is a specific documented feature of the car, and as such, it should work.
Now that said...come on. "Do you really always remember to turn off the lights?" You can't possibly be serious
. People have been remembering to turn off their own lights for about 70 years now. I haven't ever trusted auto-off lights because the benefit of using them as a habit (none, really) are vastly outweighed by the possibility of the feature failing and killing the battery.
