I wonder if the rear cross traffic alert is a software thing. My SX-L has the radar detectors already installed. They are used for the blind spot warning. It should be just a programming issue, to have both of them going when they detect traffic coming from one side to the other.

#12 ·
If you're talking about the little dots on the bumper, those are the rear park assist sensors. The blind spot sensors are hidden in the corners of the rear bumper (unlike most cars that have them in the mirror). They probably modified those to allow them to also function for rear cross traffic, but I think it would have taken more than just software.

#13 ·
Those radar sensors in the corners is what I mean. They look to the back sides of the vehicle. Some programming change should be possible to tell you something is approaching from the right or left (as far as I know those cross traffic warning systems work only at parking-lot speeds). Their detection angle should be wide enough, because they are able to look pretty far to the sides.

It could be as simple as tying the reverse gear to the sensors. When slow and in reverse, switch to cross traffic warning. When fast and forward, get triggered to be blind spot warners.

Yes, you are correct, they most likely will de-content it a bit before it crosses the border.....::crying::

From the pics I saw its more rounded, curvy, longer yes, fits people in the 3rd row a bit more comfortably. trunk room looks a tad bigger too.

WTF were they thinking about the steering wheel? its UGLY! reminds me of a bumper car steering wheel.

internal styling looks nicer too though. nice to upgrade to LEDs and
HIDs
I agree!, I really don't like that steering wheel either....it has to go!

Gotta admit this is REALLY working for me, I hated it originally, but I have to admit it is growing quite a bit on me. Maybe it is the color, maybe it is the angles. I am not sure. I also really like those "vents" in the rear bumper. Very sporty!!

Those vents in the rear are about the only thing I like on the rear end. Other than that it just kind of looks like a 2015 Sedona rear end to me. It just looks too much like a minivan from the rear. I am liking the front end though. I really like those led fog lights. My one little gripe with the front end is the way the hood cuts into the headlights. It just looks weird to me.

What really pisses me off about that is they still have LED DRL's on the Sportage SX, including the 2015 model. And they had them on the 2013 Optima SX, but then went to the stupid positioning LED's in 2014. I would love to get into a room with all the head designers and ask them WTF!!! And also find out why...what could possibly be their reason for doing that.

remember all photos and video are on pre-production models (probably brought over from Europe after the Paris auto Show), things could change once vehicles go into full production.

Remember...........
"KIA Motors America reserves the right to make changes at any time without notice and without any obligations as to colours, materials, specifications, features, accessories, packages, models and any applicable programs".

The part that really got my attention on the KMA website, is that they state that it will be available early 2015.....seems to me like they are really pushing it here and hurting the resale value tremendously of the 2013-2015 models. Why are they selling 2015's in 2014 and now a whole new 2016 in 2015? Like I understand that many companies may sell a 2015 starting November-December......but 2016 in the start of 2015? WTF man.

I don't have an inifiniti jx (nor do I own a 2013-2015 sorento) but this pisses me off just like when they changed the name of the all new jx35 to qx70 a year after release. Suddenly I am driving a technically discontinued model even though it is a year old...infiniti better be offering people free qx70 badgeing or something. (sorry for the slight derailment)

not that I don't disagree with you tt101, I think all models should come out around fall (Aug-Oct) of each year for the next model year at the earliest (generally most of the other KIA models do and some even later), but ever since the all new 2011 Sorento came out (in Jan-Feb 2010), its always been early in the year so the 2016 is no different, it will probably be out in March. Guessing that production on the 2016 version will start in January at the plant in West Point, Georgia.

The 2016 Honda HR-V is coming out in the spring of 2015 for example and also the 2016 Fiat 500x too. Most manufacturers are guilty of it at some point.

#36 ·
Ok first off for my own OCD's sake, you do or you do not disagree with me? Your wording is confusing me for some reason.

Now back to topic. Yes I can understand that because of the first 2011 sorento shifting a year, that the 2016 would too. It is not a personal knock on Kia, as yes, many companies have and will do it in the future. I just don't like it. I think 2-3 months in advance is fine, but 10-11 months; they might as well wait till mid summer at the earliest.

I would just hope that if I ever bought a 20XX version of a car, that the company would not come out with a 20XX+1 version at the start of 20XX.

Really not into this new Sorento yet? Maybe once seen I will like. However I do not lie the dash or steering wheel. They are brutal.

Sure hope they increased the gas tank capacity. Also I have the EX with power folding mirrors. Love the option but the one thing I would like to see is that after you fold the mirrors I would like to see them go back to standard position when you start the vehicle rather than have to hit the button.

yes they increased the gas tank from 66L to 71L. :)

I don't think that would be a good idea about the PFM going back to normal when starting the vehicle. In some cases owners could fold them in because they have a tight garage and would not want them folded back out till they exit the garage, otherwise they might damage them.
I guess your just stuck with all that extra work of pushing the button :D

Yeah, it also kinda pisses me off that Kia is releasing a 2016 model at the start of 2015.

At least release it midway of next year like everyone else so you won't hurt the market value (and ego) of 2015 owners <_<

#44 ·
Yeah, exactly my last point to greatur! It is all relative.

In spite of the fact that a new model year is released, a new car a few months old is hardly obsolete. :|
No, no, I do not mean that it is actually obsolete. I mean in terms of it being a year older. It is like the whole Iphone thing where a new version comes out and now the older generations are obsolete to people even though they are not.:)

Yeah, and it's not like you'd be seeing tons of the new Sorentos already in the road. I bet its gonna be 2nd half of the year before I finally notice them on the roads.

Main reason for choosing the SX 2015 in Regency Red is that it is a rare color. 6 months of owning Scarlette and I only found one exact same color as mine in the whole of Edmonton, which is nice. :)

Rarity is on par with 911s and lamborghinis here LOL.
Very true, actually I have only seen one regency red SX a couple months ago near kingsway for the first time I thought it was a myth. I see lambos more often ;)

#45 ·
Regency Red finally became available on the SX in Canada with the 2015 MY. Hve only seen one; in my dealer which didn't stay there long.
Is the colour I would have picked had it been available for 2014 MY.
Was almost tempted to pick up a Regency Red SX in the U.S. One issue was the U.S. SX is not as well equipped as the Canadian SX. Cdn SX is almost a U.S. SXL, primarily missing nappa leather.
