does the side mirror unfold when the car is in gear from park?
it did once. not sure if it was accidental.
but would it be a standard thing?
i cant repeat that no more.
not hurting as it's only a button to press.
thanks.

No, they will stay folded in so you can go through drive-thrus, car washes, etc. without having them fold out.

Pressing the unlock button twice on the remote will fold the mirrors out while unlocking the vehicle. Perhaps you hit it twice by accident?

Don't forget the extra aerodynamic benefits you get with mirrors folded in while on the highway. Hehe.

In all seriousness though...on my other car it automatically auto unfolds once you hit 30mph/50kph. I'm surprised that the Sorento doesn't do that as well. Not that it really matter to me. I actually prefer having to choose when I want my mirrors folded or not.

I don't like to leave the switch in the L or R position, because it's too easy to hit the directional adjuster with your hand when driving along or searching for the window down/up buttons and not looking (watching the road while attempting to roll down or up the window etc).
It doesn't matter if you move them or not because you can just hit the seat memory button to reset it back to your settings, if your Sorento is so equipped.

I must say kia is becoming quite European with their features, I was really not expecting auto fold with the key fob, that's really smart. My touareg had folding mirrors but they were not auto folding which sucked. The Lexus Rx350 has a feature where you can press a button so that every time you lock the car the mirrors fold and every time you unlock the car they unfold.

I remember reading that you could open and close all windows on the sorento by holding the lock or unlock buttons, anyone care to test it out for me please.

Well ,VAG may have the longest experience in this field. They already had a had a computer port in the first Audi 100 in the mid 70's. Audi was always a leader in technology. At that time, most American vehicles were still using some version of modified carburettor and called it fancy "throttle body fuel injection" if they did not have the real thing called carburettor (they were proud to be able to build this thing with several chambers and proudly called xx barrels)

My first US made vehicle was a 1979 Cadillac Seville d'Elegante. This thing had all know at the time electronic gizmos, but the engine technology was still from the late 60's, early 70's. It was absolutely tops for long, comfortable rides!

Very true, VAG has always enjoyed being at the top with technology, I just wish they would stop using cheap crappy third party parts for their vehicles and I would buy nothing but German made cars. They rarely last and always seem to have some type of electric gremlins.

You know kia was going bankrupt before Hyundai bought a major stake in their company and saved their ass. Ford was one of the potential buyers I believe...this was in 1995(?). Chrysler was going to jump ship and Fiat saved their butt....right now Jeep is enjoying record sales.....and right now Cadillac is seeing record sales with their ATS sedan. I think I see a major turn around for the American companies to come within the next 5 years.

You are right. Up here in the area of the US State of Minnesonwta you just have to take a piece of sidewalk crayon and write SNOW on the pavement, and the Triumphs refuse to start and operate. They are pure summer vehicles (the TR4 does not even have a cabin heater and the roof needs to be build up from elements laying in the trunk). When they are able to be operated they are pure and raw driving fun, and yes, the designers seemed to have forgotten to put springs between the wheels and the chassis, at least it does not feel like it has any. But it also has no body lean!
