Default can my 4 cyl AWD sorento tow a trailer?

I have a 2014 4 cylinder AWD Sorento. We bought the 4 cyl because it was cheaper, assumed better gas mileage, and we don't intend to tow.

Fast forward a few months to now, and I do need to tow something. I want to tow a 6'x12' utility trailer carrying a ride on mower and some attachments in the trailer. Can my sorento do this, or am I asking too much of it? Its only an extra $20 to rent a pickup truck at uhaul with the trailer to do this, so I am inclined to just go that route.

Also I am obviously inexperienced when it comes to towing and trucks, if I did want to tow something with my Sorento, what would I need to buy, a trailer hitch and attach it? Am I crazy for thinking the 4 cyl could even do this? Thoughts? Assuming I need to buy something I might as well just spend the extra $20 and rent the uhaul pickup with trailer I think.

MAXIMUM TOWING CAPACITY** 1650 lbs. 2014 Kia Sorento LX 4dr SUV 2.4L 4-cyl. 6-speed Automatic Features and Specs

I think you can as long as it doesn't surpass the recommended towing. I bought the same vehicle for similar reason, but now think I should of went with the v6 AWD. Maybe trade it in here in a few months.

ok, I think for $20 extra dollars I'm just going to rent the truck to go along with the trailer

I tow a popup camper (around 1000lbs) with my 4cyl fwd, haven't had any problems. I won't be winning any uphill races with it but it makes it to the top of the bigger hills without too much laboring.

Just ordered my 2014 SXL AWD. I started to order it with the hitch. The wife said "No. If you need to tow something get a rental truck for the day.".

How about camping? Do you rent a truck for the weekend or longer for that?

We got the V6 so we CAN tow a trailer. The EX and up come with the trailer package which includes a transmission cooler. Granted we don't want to haul anything really heavy, but a camping or utility trailer is not an issue.
