I am experiencing a hard shift into 4th gear I believe. It's my wifes car so I don't get to experience it all the time but seems to happen when down shifting to increase speed. We have only had the car for a week so I don't have the best feel for it yet. It has 48k on it by the way. Has anyone else experienced this and what is the fix if any? Thanks.

We've had our 2014 V6 since November and can't say we've experienced that. I'm currently dealing with dumb interior crap breaking, peeling, or flat out not working. Powertrain-wise, the car is solid...Except for the intermittent AWD rear coupler issue. Glad this is my wife's car. LOL

I drove it to and from work today and it drove flawlessly. After some searching around the forum and Google, it seems like it could be how the car "learns" the driver's style and adjusts how it shifts/drives. Since we have only owned it a week I'm thinking this is what it could be. It could also be our terrain in western PA is different from where the car came from and that is effecting how it is shifting because it only seemed to happen on the downshift going uphill.

This is the Sorento forum, are you referring to your Optima? There is a separate forum for Optima's on this website. Either way, I hope you have no more issues with that! ;)

Sorry, But yes, I've had my 15' Sorento EX do that as well at times. It kinda learns and resets itself automatically at times. Hopefully you'll have no more issues. ;) Still waiting to get the time, weather, & money, to put brakes, tires, & window rain guards on mine, at 30k miles. Why didn't they tint the driver, & passenger windows, like the back ones? Does anyone know the percentage of the stock tint? 35 -40%? I keep leaving them open a bit when I park it, because I'm so used to my previous cars with tint.

I would have to agree its something electronic. If it was a mechanical issue it would do it consistently. Drove the car to work again and was fine.

As far as the window tint on the front windows, I believe it's a legal thing. Tint laws vary down to the county level as to what is legal. I've had friends over the years get pulled over for as little as 50% on the front and others have the front windshield tinted and never had problems with the police but they live in different areas.

Laws vary by state but most say no less than 35%, but the "privacy glass" used in the back is typically 20% or so - so to prevent possible legal issues, they don't tint the front.

Police carry a device that measures the tint level, one would think most tint installers would have one as well..
