Thumbs down Bought 2014 Sorento two months ago, engine kaput

I purchased a used 2014 KIA Sorento with a clean carfax, even paid for a service where mechanic goes out to the car lot to check for any problems before purchasing.
Now, two months later, I get the oil lamp indicator flashing at me on the interstate.
I check the oil level and it's...gone. There is no oil.
The car was burning oil.
I take it to the dealership as it's still under 60,000 miles and should still be covered under warranty even though I am not the original owner and now the dealership wants records of all oil changes and maintenance records, that of which I have not been able to track down as of this moment.
I fear that I may be stuck with a blown engine car if they do not honor the warranty.

Googling it brings up a number of very scary results, as it seems this problem may not arise till later in the vehicles life, when possibly the warranty may have expired.

I have read much of this "Kia engine failure" problem and I'm curious if anyone here has had a similar experience and what was the result of your experience?

How many miles did you put on it and did you ever check the level between any oil changes it MAY have had?

I purchased it with just over 52k miles. I only had one oil change. It lasted about two months on that oil change before I got the oil lamp light.
I am trying to track down service records but it doesn't come up on the carfax.
Do regular service stations oil changes usually show up on a carfax report or is it just if it's changed at the dealer?

No oil changes will be on car fax at all.
Kia is more than likely going to take care of it under your warranty.....

Show them that you had the vehicle inspected, the purchase contract, and the receipt for the oil change you had.

Thanks cobra and eflyguy. I did discover this... I tracked down a maintenance record that took place in July of 2016 at a Kia Dealership.
It reads:

"Customer states that car is smoking when driving
Found sludge build up in motor
Non Correction"

Then the car was sold at an auction to the used car dealership that I eventually purchased it from in November of 2016.

I don't know if this helps or hurts my cause but what a bummer!

Update: Kia denied warranty coverage on the engine due to my inability to provide service records for the vehicle. (of course I wouldn't have them because I just bought it)

I opened a case with Kia Motors of America to challenge the dealership's decision to not honor the warranty.
If they don't honor it, I'm staring down the barrel of a $6-$8K engine install for a vehicle I haven't even owned for 3 months.

Considering they have a record of sludge found in the engine prior to you buying it, you are probably out of luck. Sludge is almost always caused by not changing the oil. Kia probably denied the repair at that time and the owner quickly got rid of it.
