OK, I give up. After a few google searches, I have had no luck answering this question. Our new 2015 Kia Sorento has an "FE" badge on both driver and passenger doors after the AWD lettering, nothing on the rear hatch but "Sorento" and "V6". Ergo my question. What does the "FE" stand for and what does that mean to me? I've been looking for some aftermarket wheels, floor mats, rain guards, etc., and no websites ever list the FE model, only EX, LX, LXV6, and SX, if I remember them correctly. Would really like to be able to sleep better at night.
No clue what FE stands for but all the stuff you listed should work regardless of model. For wheels, just search any model. floor mats, only thing you might have issues with is 5pass or 7 pass. not sure which one you have? Rain guards as vent visors (or sport visors i think Kia calls them?) Should be the same for all models. only different on models with 4dr or 2 dr, etc....
What size of wheels did your Sorento come with stock? Maybe just base it off that? 17s=LX-V6 18s=EX 19s=SX
Is it the 7 seat model? I've seen several references to the "FE" as "Family Edition" - being the 3rd row of seating - but I've only seen that referred to on the '16MY Sorento - you have a '15? Perhaps they started badging the 7 passenger version FE earlier?
It is interesting that Back in the 1970's decade, Subaru used that "FE" badge for same designation, "Fuel Efficient" the incredibly efficient 1979 Subaru Leone FE with five speed manual transmission, was rated at 33 mpg city and 50 mpg highway.
Yes, Subaru was beating the Toyota Prius’ 48 highway miles per gallon in 1979. The 1.6 liter, Boxer four cylinder was fitted with a “transistorized ignition”, with an increased compression ratio, a redesigned camshaft and new combustion chamber design. Options at the time included an AM/FM stereo, tape system and a CB radio.
Great article but doesn't say anything about what the FE means. I do have the third row seat but had driven other EX or LX models with third row and no FE badge. No way my dealer put it on. 17" wheels.
I have a 2016 AWD FE and was wondering the same d*** thing. Dealer didn't know what it stood for. Also came up with nothing on web searches.
Family Edition, mentioned in an earlier post makes sense, but I wonder if all trims with the 7 seats say FE after AWD on driver/passenger doors? I have the LX.
I bought a 2016 EX V6 AWD today and mine also has "FE" badge on it (please see the attached image).
I asked my sales person about it. He said it means Fuel Efficiency.
I have the same question. My lx v6 can switch drive train from regular to sport to Eco so I kind of thought the FE meant Fuel efficient but I also have a third row and according to Kia's website the lx v6 is the only trim where the third row comes standard so family edition makes sense too.
That FE looks exactly like the lettering used for the "FE" part of santa fe. They are built in the same factory, possibly an error? I haven't seen this anywhere in Canada.
I was looking at 2016 Optimas at my dealer, and there were some of them that also had the "FE" badge on them. No one seems to know what it means. Especially when two cars are packaged the same, and one has it and the other doesn't...
