I suggest before you drive to a listed place that may not be near you, call first. The list is kept up to date only by individuals updating it. Many dealers have stopped selling non ethanol gas but are still listed. If you find out that one of your locals are no longer carrying it, please contact the email address of the originator to drop it from the listing. In my area, 2 years ago there were many stations that were carring it, now only those on our eastern shore, a few in Pa and Va. All seem to be near farm areas. The price is really high as well-$4.50/gallon vs $3.45 regular at the one near me-(45 miles away!) Marinas with fast boats sometimes carry it, but again at a high premium. You certainly won't be saving any money with the slight increased fuel economy ( ave-2mpg) at the higher prices. I'm not sure about the engine computer system dynamics used in KIAs, but in Ford & Lexus V8s using regluar grade, if you put in middle/premium grade and dog it for a little bit the computer reacts and sets the timing, etc., to the max programmed allowed giving you extra performance and vice versa if you go very light foot.

Picked this up on another forum I belong to and it is more applicable to much older vehicles. Carburators and older gas lines do not handle ethanol so well. No more than I run my Malibu probably makes no difference and the FMC is Diesel. In hindsight probably should not have posted on here. Thanks for your comments though.

I don't think you did wrong in posting it on the KIA site. I noted a bunch of owners wanted to try to use the pure gas- even with 2012 models, pure gas usually does give you better performance properties than 10% ethanol. However at the much higher per gal costs, don't think it would be a trade off unless you were trying to run drags, etc. That's why I suggested trying to coach the computer to run at it's maximum limits.

I used a tank of E10 once (RON91 w/ 10% Ethanol) in my '07 Rio... Got about 350km for 40L.

Tried again 6 months later, at a different outlet (different supplier) and got the same performance and economy - around 550km for 40L in town - from E10.

I know some Aussie cars are being engineered to run on E85.

-Myst

P.S. I love owning a diesel... One type of fuel. Thats it. Just one. Its great!
