Stuck Oil Filter Cap

Hello, new to the forums here but I have searched the other oil filter threads with no luck on a solution for my problem.

I have a 2011 Kia Sorento that I'm trying to change the oil filter in. The filter cap is on there so tight nothing seems to be working for me. I have tried a adjustable crescent wrench, a 27mm box wrench, a adjustable oil filter wrench, and nothing seems to budge it. Is there a special socket or cap wrench for this like some other cars have?

The O-ring appears to be pinched between the housing and the cap, I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it.

I would like to try some of suggestions I might receive on here before I take it to the dealer and have them get it off.

Thanks in advance.

Apply more force. It will come off. When you replace the filter, make sure you put a couple of drops of oil on your finger and lube up the new o-ring before you put the cap back on.

I have this same problem with the pinched o ring. I've tried all the tools the op has mentioned and nothing. The top nut has also become stripped.... I've purchased a replacement but I just need to get this cap off. any suggestions?

Okay. Just solved it. Hopefully this will help someone browsing through the forums for this problem as well. Notice the original poster said that the o ring was pinched between the cap and the housing. Mine was like this as well. I simply pulled the o ring out with what I could then turned the cap with vice grips. Once I pulled everything out, the original o ring was still in place and the one I had pulled out was one that was likely put in all the way to the top or something instead of being used to replace the original.
