Best,
Thanks! Tried it and it works. Great idea. I will probably just watch the map without setting a destination and listen to the turn by turn. I'm kind off a dinosaur when it comes to tech, but I try

hi,
does anyone know what is the latest Nav s/w version? I know the latest map version is 5.04.. but still trying to figure out the s/w or firmware version of the Nav unit itself. Thanks!

missed the deal on this, which is the only way it would be worth it to me... at $199, it's a complete rip-off.

as someone else mentioned, Waze (and lots of other smartphone navigation apps) make these updates pretty much pointless. i like the convenience of just using the built-in unit, but am not going to pay an arm AND a leg for it (at the discounted $99, it was just an arm...)

Haven't seen this thread in a while. The point of purchasing this is two fold...

1. updating the OS on the device helps out with some things like bluetooth.
2. Newer maps/POIs and newer NAV OS.

There are phone based GPS solutions. The problem is that if you live or travel in a rural area, the good phone based GPS require you to pay to download the full maps so you can travel when out of service.

There is also the convenience of having everything right on the car screen.

There are better GPS units. Standalone and solutions for phones..etc..

$99 was a pretty good deal compared to other car based GPS unit updates from other manufacturers.

How frequently have past navigation updates been released?

I'm trying to guesstimate when the next version (v6?) might be released. Perhaps seeing how the price of the current v5 remains at $99, that might signal that v6 is about to be released? If the past updates have come out like clockwork every year, then I'll wait.

But if the past releases are infrequent or unpredictable, then maybe I could get v5 for $99. Anyone have any guesses?

Is an update available for the 2013s? I feel like the map data is pretty out of date.

I just called them to see if the update affects the rest f the visual interface, and they said it doesn't. Does anyone know how to update the firmware?

I have a brend new 2014 Sorento SX with the new navigation system and the map version written on the sticker of the nav SD card package is 2012 !

I guess 2012 map is the latest version available that's why only 2011 Sorento can be updated and not more recent ones (2012+).
