For the money, both Clarion and Pioneer are OK, but nothing to write home about. Both are a major step up from anything you'll get in a factory audio system. At the end of the day, trying to get "audiophile" quality music in a very resonant box on wheels is going to be an extremely elusive goal. Most folks just give up and go for the loudness thing.

All right then thanks for the reply. Sounds like my next upgrade will be 4 new door speakers, if its as easy as you say I should have no problems. Now I just have to decide polk, clarion, pioneer, or infinity speakers, since I like all four brands the price tag at bestbuy will be my deciding factor.
Sorry im sure its posted elsewhere but is there any additional items needed for the install, like wireing or harnesses or such?

Nope! You do have to destroy your stock speakers though...not really worth crying over.

Just cut the old speaker out, you will see the plastic tabs holding the magnet in, rip those out. Cut the red and black wire going to the old magnet and re solder them to the new speakers. Lay the new speaker in and screw it in. Thats it!

Thanks, sounds fairly simple.

like I said, the difference over Sirius and FM is noticable, but not crazy...but when you use AUX, CD or stream over bluetooth the sound difference is unreal. Right up there with the Infinity system. Just needs a tad more bass.

The best sub for me would be a powered one. I had one in my old pathfinder hooked up to the stock system and it pounded hard.

Conclusion: Clarion may not be the best, but they are far from the worst. Im not here to enter audio competitions.
True, I'm sure they're better then stock, but I found they also had an "airy" or, "hollow" Bass almost like the stock system. A number of yrs ago, I had a Chrysler Cordova I bought for my wife, it came with a new $350 Clarion system, it did not impress me at all From then on I wanted nothing else to do with Clarion. Years later, my son bought a car that happened to have a new Clarion stereo, & spkrs, again I was not impressed, and I was glad it was not mine.

If you'd shopped around, or read reviews from places like BestBuy, you would have found the Pioneer, Polk, Jensen, Sony, Kicker, all had a better base response. Kenwood is my favorite reciever! I have a few, but, their speakers don't impress me either. By the way, are your speakers wired in Phase?

Positive to positive terminal, Negative to negative terminal?

If not you'll lose Bass response as well.

I paid $120 for four speakers. I honestly don't know what else to say. It sounds great. Maybe not nearly as good as it could if i used a different speaker, but regardless. I have had a few people comment on the quality.

Keep in mind this is a family hauler. I don't need earth shattering performance. I'm happy with it and so are other people.

Rento, I'm sure it sounds good, and better then stock, but from my experience with Clarion, I personally like a stronger Bass response. I only put this info up to help inform others, not to put you down.

If my vehicle came with the Clarions, I wouldn't bother to change them, but I would add a BASS booster of some type

Nope! No amp required. Mine were coaxial and all I had to do was remove the old speaker and install the new. Simple as that!

Is that some new brand that I haven't heard of? I'd stick with a major brand of speaker that's gotten decent reviews. The speaker quality is where you can make the most significant improvement in sound quality. If you choose a dodgy speaker, it will sound horrid, even with good electronics in front of it.

Best,
