I use the dealer because it cost $9.00 for a scheduled oil change. My first oil change was free and $9.00 for the life of my car. Where else can you get an oil change that cheap? I can't even do it myself for that!

Just curious, how much oil did you use to fill it? I used 5.5, per the manual, and it filled exactly to the "F" mark.
At last I found your incredibly detailed photo, which provided me exactly what I needed - namely a nice photograph showing exactly where the large O-Ring should go!
A PICTURE IS WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS! THANK YOU Sauron!

Wow ....that is a good deal . My original dealer charge $ 59.99 + 15% tax.
I found another dealer @ $ 49.99 + tax.
They both insist to do the change every 8,000 kms = +- 5,000 miles .

Do they exagerate ?
My dealer suggested the same. They use a synthetic blend and explained 5,000mi is the norm now for most of their vehicles. My wife's Toyota Camry requires an oil change every 7,500mi. I remember changing every 3000

Motorcraft 5W-20 synthetic blend is available at Walmart for under $20 for 5qts. If someone was going to change their oil every 5k (or even every 7.5k) miles and wanted to skimp, that oil will go the distance. I tend to err a bit on the OCD side of things and use full synthetic (Pennzoil) instead. I doubt it makes a damn bit of difference over the semi-syn to your motor, but it makes me feel good. Hard to put a price on that. :-) What I absolutely would NOT do....is rely on the dealer "special" where they likely put lowest bidder bulk oil in there. Guys/gals, it literally takes 10 minutes to do this yourself and you can ensure that you get quality oil. You also don't need to waste a minute of your time traveling to/from the dealer or waiting for them to get around to servicing your vehicle once it's there. I suspect your time is probably worth much more than having someone subsidize your oil change so they'll get a chance to upsell you other parts/services. No thanks.
And for what it's worth, Kia recommends the oil be changed every 8000km (5000 miles).
Where I work we recommend 5k. Its halfway between the normal maint. schedule(7500mi) and the severe(3750mi), and our area is definitely more on the severe side of the spectrum. Lots of hills, varying temps, stop and go traffic, etc.
Yup, my time is important. I don't want to drive to the store buying oil and a filter and pay retail. Did I mention $9? For an oil change! Granted, it was a promotion they had when I purchased the vehicle and probably a ploy to up sell you other products. 1)I'm good at saying "no" and 2) I don't like crawling under my vehicle to change my own when I know I can have someone else do it cheaper...a lot cheaper! Did I mention $9

*shrug*
Buying the oil is easy since I do it when I'm already at the store for other things. Glad you're happy having someone else do it. I prefer to do it myself and ensure it gets done right with parts and materials that *I* want since I plan on owning the vehicle for a long time.
At $9, they're losing money on each change and I'm sure they're not doing it out of the goodness of their heart. Good luck with that.
