Default LX Curt Tow Wiring Harness 56100

I'm about to install the 3rd Curt 56100 wiring harness on my 2012 LX. Both previous harnesses failed to provide brake lights ( no brake light signal from the conversion module) all other signals were fine. The first failed after about a month while the second lasted longer, but I don't know how much longer since the trailer wasn't used in the winter.
The guys at Curt have been great to deal with and I give them a 10 when it comes to customer satisfaction. I passed their OK this guy knows what he is talking about test, but they can't suggest a reason why this is happening. Replacing the harness is getting to be a time consuming chore as is checking for brake lights.
I was wondering if anyone on the forum - using the Curt 56100 harness - has had any similar problems?

Thanks

Is there anyway you can use a different harness? I'm looking into getting a Curt hitch soon for my LX so this issue caught my attention. Maybe you can take it to the dealer and make sure you don't have any electrical issues, with fuses and the likes. There were some other threads on here about people putting on aftermarket lights and coming up with issues, maybe it's related.

I just transfered a Curt harness with a convertor from a customers old 2011 Sorento LX onto his new 2013 Sorento LX. He had no issues with it in 2 years with it in 2 years, and it worked fine on the new one when I installed it.

Are you finding a good ground location when you bolt up the eyelet on the ground wire? Are you running the power wire so it won't rub through anywhere on the underbody?

Just to let you know, there is another member who received a recall letter from Curt hitch about the wiring harness. Maybe that is what's wrong with yours. Here is the thread.

You should call Curt and see if yours fall under that same recall.

Hi,
Thanks for the replies. I asked Curt about the recall and it was for a different harness and I've been over the wiring a couple of times - the ground is good as is the wire to the fuse and battery.
Spongebob, how and where was the module you moved mounted? The two I have mounted have been with double sided tape in the cavity below the left rear tail lamp as per the instructions from Curt. The tape doesn't seem to hold up and over time the module ends up just hanging loose . Could it be hitting the body and causing an internal module problem. The harness I am about to install comes with a tag on the wires that says the module should be mounted inside the vehicle , but given the length of wires and attached connectors it doesn't seem possible to access the interior from the taillight. I have asked my dealers parts department and they claim the KIA module is mounted below the tail light with screws to keep it from moving. They didn't have any in stock to show me.
