Default why 22's instead of 20"s wheels

hi, somebody pm'd me and asked why the 22's not the 20 inch wheels so here were the things to consider:

A stock: 235/60 R18 vs aftermarket: 265/45 R20

tire rotation difference: 0.960% almost 1%

speedo: 100kmhr vs 99km/hr actual

more vibration, thicker tires, heavier

(I tried dealerships offer before on 20"s)

B stock: 235/60 R18 vs. 265/35 R22

tire rotation difference: .69% (.7%)

speedo: 100km/hr vs 99.3km/hr actual

less vibration; it seems..
(it doesn't feel slower, it actually spins a little during acceleration)

24"-ridiculous..-rubberband tires, likely damages rims fast

C And to help decrease leaning and rough ride, i bought urethane cushions installed into the middle of the spring: benfits below (from korea) birthplace of kia
1.Comfortable Driving when passing overspeed preventing block and bumpy road
2.Prevents leaning with coil spring tension control when making a sharp curve.
3.With cushion improvement, it reduces fatigue when driving long distance.
4.Protects shock absorber from the shocks(Durability extends more than 2 times)
5.With car height restoration, it provides stabilized driving.

this helps esp. for owners of sx that has stiffer ride (as others say so)

The urethane cushions interest me.Tryed both links you supplied,neither gave purchasing info.Where did you purchase the ones you have?The biggest concern I have with the suspension on my SX is the inability to absorb the thump when going over concrete expansion joints.I do have my doubts that these cushions would not help much there.

try jayong mall (korean seller) at ebay, i purchased it through them;
you will still feel the thump (22's) but i havent tried going back to stock 18's to feel the difference, but with 22's with these cushions its definitely a smoother ride.. it was wobbly on uneven road before.. more leaning to curves.. i dont know with stock 18's, but i guess there should be improvement in ride quality.. my 3 friends confirmed it was better ride and also my GF confirmed it, coz im just used to it i had to make sure if there was difference; even on acceleration it won't raise the front end of the sorento that much but instead you will feel the pull of the v6 when stepping on it.. here's the link

'AU' KIA 2011+ SORENTO R TTC Urethane Wheel Cushion 4EA 1set by Jayongmall | eBay

there is also a set of 2... on that store, i bought set of four

I'm glad you like it, but I have to say, I think the stock SX wheels are already big, don't your brakes look tiny now? )

Good info kobi411. How bad did these hurt your mileage though? Loss of what? 4-5mpg?

mileage wise?? i dont think really much difference i filled up more than 5 times now, i am still about 415-430km/tank (still cold here) well if i was better on my foot i will have 450-460,
just take for example like the ford edge SEL AWD, their stocks are 18", gas mileage is at 11.8/23.9 city/highway which is closer/similar to our v6 sorento awd and their sports which has 22" whhels rated at 12.2/23.2 city/highway.. so probably just the same.. i think;
although their sports are 3.7 liter and normal v6 is 3.5.. and as i have posted before very small difference on tire rotation, 0.7%.. 100 km on the speedo 99.3 km actual.. try 1010tires.com for sizing and you'll see 20" are bigger 22" are just right...
i will post pics of the stock tires beside the 22's and really they are just about same height...

When I see things like "25mpg" I think, yeah, okay... Or 7-8L/100km, alright.
But 450km/tank? Major ouch!
The main reason I traded in the Sorento was because I couldn't afford the 800km/week I was doing, and at about 750km/tank in town, it wasn't working.
I just don't understand why diesel isn't available in the US/Canada. :S

Yeah. And the Sorento handles them pretty damn well, considering its a softroader with highway tyres.
The diesel engine is beautiful. The auto box, not so much. But thats alright. Tiptronic! lol
