Parking on a slope can cause the MPG display to reset. Also, I've poured as little as a gallon of fuel in my Sorento and had the display reset.

Don't even get me restarted on the wonderful automatic headlights that insist on coming on at high noon in December under a sunny sky. Or the retarded shift interlock design that makes an obnoxious clicking noise every time the vehicle comes to a stop. More examples of Kia's engineering blunders that other car makers seem to have no trouble with.

Kia's come a long ways, but some of the little stuff like this starts to get annoying after a while.
Maybe I will, the day people stop saying. "Never happened in any of my other cars over the years". And that is all they say. Our crystal balls are all at the cleaners right now to find out what THEY HAD! Since they do and never do tell JUST what they HAD. When we make those statements/references do we?

And yes common issue too we have seen here. Thanks for adding that rotorwrench. And my neighbor too on his 2005 Lincoln Navigator FYI jfishers. I do not have more first hand for you jfisher as I do not buy extra nor use that crap if standard, to care if it works or not. Problem solved for me. 2+2= 4 just like in 4th grade. 299 miles on manual reset ODM "trip A" from 11.415 gals = 26.193MPG too last week. Start driving fully and get off the cell and gee whizz screens while there.

Does it really matter? The fact is I've owned at least a half dozen vehicles with automatic headlights, and they all worked as expected. They never came on at Noon in full sunlight like the Kia lights do.

I've actually owned probably 30 new vehicles in my life. Half of them automatics. None of them have made that annoying clicking noise from the shift interlock either.

So I think I'm pretty qualified to state that none of my previous vehicles have had the little technical issues that this Kia has had.

Sounds like maybe a no-frills Yugo is more your style? Too bad they don't make those anymore.

Again, if Kia (or anyone else) is going to put creature comforts in their vehicles, all I ask is that they work right. I don't think that's asking too much. How hard could it be, really, to make a working avg MPG display and a working automatic headlight function? Sure, they work right 90% of the time on this Kia, but 90% isn't good enough IMHO.

Nope thru the years the
Volvo's, 265-764 turbo-744 Euro-965
MB's, 300D Turbo-350SDL
BMW's, 524tD-Z3
Peugoet, 505S TurboDiesel
Toyota's, Celica GT/GTS-Supra Turbo Targa, Cressida L
Mazda Miata tricked out alot
Kia SOUL SPORT Limited Edition stick

And my dads 1989 Nissan Maxima SE and bought for my mom BY ME before she died of cancer that my dad NOW has
1999 Nissan Maxima SE LTD Titanuim Package

All prove you WRONG!

I just care less about the add-on non mission critical nonsence stuff and gee whizz screen (int MPG/MILES on TANK/Hand Job in progress) crap stuff while I am driving said car. And weather the world comes to an end if it malfuctuions slightly. And does not work like it needs to get you back from the moon, life and death crap is all Jfisher FYI.

Everything that needs to work does. Stuff that does not is warrenty or fixable if need be. No sleep loss or henny penny the sky is falling over it. The rest of the extra crap is crap period. Waste of time to worry over. 90% you said? Nice. Hummmm there is a childrens tale writting about that too ya know. It is called The Princess and the Pea.

But yes I was ticked off to hell when the slide out on a motor and Pop Up Touch screen for the $34,000 Hardin-Karmon sound system in the used (new owners bought at BARRET-JACKSON) of SHAQ's 2000 RR Silver Seraph in OX BLOOD RED with Chrome Bentley ARNAGE R type reworked with RR center caps rims. Did not work properly all the time your right. I had for the month I babysat it and was living large. M73B54 5.4L V12 Twin turbo (custom) and ZF5HP30 5spd. And no tunes! unless you played with it to get the sub-woofer inline was hard to take and live with. Yes for sure. Oh the A-G-OO-NN-Y of it all. But then at 124MPH dead silent and floating along on a road we will never tell you about, WHO CARES! The Mirrors did not whisle either again.

Have a nice day jfisher. There is plenty of COORS LIGHT in the cooler. Go soak in the hotub.

Really? So me expecting *all* the features on my $30K Kia to actually work is being a Princess and the Pea? Wow, I guess I'm the moron for expecting the features on a Kia to actually work. I'm glad that you're happy that the engine runs and the damn thing gets you from point A to point B, but I expect a little more for my $$$ than "just good enough".

I expect all the features advertised to come with the vehicle to actually work. Anything less is simply unacceptable.
