I am so freaking frustrated. I just bought LAST WEEK a brand new Kia Sorento 2012 EX. TOday, when I was going back from work, I turned my car on and the UVO system was dead. No radio, no rear camera, no sirius NOTHING. I tried to connect my ipod via USB cable and the usB slot is also dead. The rest of the car is working fine (AC, lights, sunroof, smart key, clock)
I am so pissed and disappointed. Come on, the car is 1 week old, and I am already experiencing problems???
Do you guys have any idea what might be? I was checking the manual, and it says it might be a fuse, but come on, 1 week old???
Is complicated to change the fuse? Where do I buy this?
And because of this labor day, I can't take my car until Tuesday.
The fuse box is located near where your knees are whilst driving, on the front panel under the steering wheel.
I think there are fuse pullers provided. Just pull them out, check to see if the wire in the middle is connected and then put them back.
Kia offers five spare fuses in our Sorento: 5amp, 7.5amp, 10amp, 15amp, 20amp.
Use one of the spares then head on down to an auto shop (retailer) and purchase some more!
So today I woke up earlier to try to fix thefuse. to my surprise the UVO was working fine again.the only thing I was doing differently before was using my iPod view the USB cable that apple , not the kia one.what could have happened? now I am afraid my car is defective

I wouldn't jump to that conclusion just yet. I wonder if the non-Kia cable won't work? Maybe try the blue tooth streaming audio (I've tried it and it works like a champ) - give it a week and see if it does it again, if so, report it to your local stealership.
But I was using the apple USB cable on my UVO system without any problems for 1 week. Then yesterday, when I turned the car on, the UVO system was not working at all. Today, when I was about to change the fuse, I tried one more time starting the car, and then the system worked.
Weird, I think this is a classic Microsoft product (bug). The problem I do not know how to reset the UVO windows LOL
My wife had the unpleasant experience of having the A/C quit working on ours about 4 days after we bought it. (Yes, it was about 102 degrees that day!) The dealer is about 20 miles away, so he said to try disconnecting the battery for at least 5 minutes and let the computer reset. I disconnected only the negative lead for 10 minutes and it has been like a dream ever since. The salesman told me the cars are supposed to have their computers reset when they arrive at the dealership, but mine must have slipped through.
I do not know if this is related to your issue, but you might check with your dealer to ensure the computer was reset. (Or if my salesman is full of "it"...)
My 2012 Sorento's UVO also went out about a week and a half ago. I brought it to the Kia dealer and when I pulled in I shut off the engine. When the service manager came to check it out he started up the Sorento and sure enough the UVO was working again. Apparently when the car was off the computer reset itself which got the UVO back on. It hasn't happened since then.
Hmm sounds like something I went thru a few weeks ago (over labor day weekend)..
I have notcied that starting mine was getting longer and longer to start. Then a few sundays ago got home and decided to double check something and tried to start it and press the button and got a *Click* sound.
I had power thru the whole vehicle.. I had Nav, Radio/Sirius,Lights work everything fine no dashlights telling me something is wrong. So I went thru the book and tried the differ ways to start it..nada same click sound.
Got it towed to the kia dealership.. turned out it was the battery. It wasnt getting the cranking amps needed to start (and the Sorento is a little over 1 year old). I though it was a fuse or starter something of that nature.. but never the battery (since It still gave the vehicle plenty of juice). Plus while it was there they did a few other thigns that came down from Kia to be done on it.
But so far other than that small hicup we really do enjoy our Sorento.

HELP
Same problem with my Rio. Just happened for the 2nd time and I am not impressed...
First time I was about to start 150minute drive back home after fuelling up.
my phone was plugged in, and the sat radio was on. I started driving and "CLICK" my phone shut off, centre console shut off, display shut off.
Tried restarting the car at a couple red lights to no avail. Thought I smelled something burning [plastic] for the last hour of the drive home. got home parked and checked the fuses : all in good order. Restarted car, no change.
Next morning, i get in the car and start it and all works fine.
Tonight I make quick run to the store; on way home i decided to open my windows[radio off, displaying clock, fan on 3] as soon as i did, the "CLICK" again and the clock/display shut off. Got home checked fuses, all fine. Restarted- nothing. I'm thinking the car needs to be off for some time before restart for it to reboot???
Grr!
